Shame on you Porsche. You charge plenty of money for your cars... now start standing behind them.
Agree with Steve.
As someone who has owned several iterations of the 911 over the years, each one mysteriously inheriting the same annoying idiosyncracies that Porsche just never seemed to quite care enough about to fix...(broken door-check straps, rust around windshields, premature valve-guide wear, etc...) I whole heartedly applaud your effort and wish you luck in finding an honorable resolution on the part of Porsche.
I'm happy to put my name on your list, Mike.

Matt,

Oh yeah... the door-check strap issue. I must have blocked that one out of my memory. On my car, the damn check strap was ripped right out of the door jam! Thanks for the reminder. And thanks to Porsche for building an almost perfect car, and then letting the enthusiasts clean up all the mistakes... at our expense.

I am in as well. I can't imagine a company selling such high end products dodges their responsibility to make things right. They had no problems taking your $$. Now that it's time to pay some back, they do not want to even know of an issue.

Sorry for your frustrations Mike.

Its too bad Porsches most passionate drivers are often folks that can't afford or justify to buy brand new, yet have to deal with some of Porsches most glaring shortcomings.

Hopeful that you find satisfaction in your attempts for resolution.

Count me in

Hi Mike. Sorry this is even necessary. I wish Porsche had just "stepped up" and done the right thing.
But in light of the on going SAI issue, I guess that's not going to happen anytime soon.
Count me in to help too.

Things may be heating up. The big event this weeks is my meeting with the Porsche rep. We will go over the car and hopefully I will get a view of what is happening with Porsche and why my claim was denied in the first place. I also have a possible channel to Porsche AG in Germany which I will try to work. In the meanwhile I will continue writing my letter to Peter Schwarzenbauer which will be sent on Thursday with this thread if I don't hear the right words from the Porsche rep.

I will keep all of you posted.

Next week I get to travel down to San Jose to take Bruce's 911 engine rebuilding course...that should be fun and it gets me away from this mess for a while....

Cheers,

Mike

Hey Mike... good luck with all of this and you've got my support too. Your car's beautiful, BTW (sans the rust, that is!).

I'd like to talk to you some time about your RS-style mods... they look great.

Take care and knock 'em dead.

Mike, as a fellow Targa owner, I say to Porsche...please help out!!!! Porsche...don't hide behind some legal words, do the ethical thing!!!! As a company run by human beings, do what is human.

Porsche refused to fix my door check strap, even though out of warranty....and I asked nicely...for a courtesy repair reimbursement, but instead got a letter telling me everything was out warranty (stating the obvious)...yada...yada...insulting my intelligence.

Yeah, wait till some big shot CEO/Director in Porsche needs a life saving device that the company I work for makes, and see what kind of customer service we'll give him/her. I assure the company I work for will take care of him/her before, during, and waaaaay after "warranty"...and our field rep service is immpeccable. Porsche, you need to take some lesson on CUSTOMER FOCUS QUALITY from Medtronic. www.medtronic.com
