Nick: Sorry to hear about your situation. When you have a problem like this write a hard copy "real letter to the head honcho of this dealership" and fax it to them explaining your problem and your situation and also send a hard copy via certified mail with a return receipt. This always works for me rather than words over the phone and follow up with a phone call to the head honcho or guy above your sales guy.

Take care and hope everything works out for you.

Jeff,

Sounds good to me! I have already filed a complaint with PCNA.
Hopefully, the new owner will show up on here and we can find out how much he paid for it ...

This idea is a good one IMO. I think the "scorned" buyer should send this thread to the dealership via email. They will then get an appreciation how powerful internet "word of mouth" can be.
Personally, I have always been a fan of a DO NOT BUY list for Rennlist members. I suppose the problem is that almost every Porsche stealer would end up making the list thereby nullifying its effect.

Thanks for your thoughts. I certainly dont want to change the direction of this thread, but was away for a week on vacation (diving, yeah!!) and returned to my Grandfather passing away the day after I returned. Yes, thats three grandparents I have lost in two months time.. Been a rough one, I will say..

I will also say that I did, very much, look forward to return home and read about the rumble that I missed attending. After reading all of the associated threads, in complete disbelief I will add, I had absolutely no desire to post any more here, sadly. Now I am trying to forget about the past and get-on with life.

What a$$holes!
Years ago, I worked in auto sales for about 4 months. It was long enough to see numerous customers get ripped off, and having to deal with the old "bait and switch".
It really bothers me, and to this day, I will not buy a used car from a dealer, unless the car is an exceptionally good deal.
You probably already knew this, but their profit margins on used late model Porsches is VERY HIGH! Like 20-35%.
And they have the audacity to bitch over $750?
*******!

Here's what you do.......

Use the $750 ticket and fly to NC. Forget about deposit contract.
Show up at the dealer and ask about the car.
When they tell you it's gone, they will try to sell you a 996.

This is, by definition, Bait and Switch....... This is illegal and regulated by federal law.

Their fine will be $20k+

I don't typically advocate this type of behavior, but the dealer really overstepped their bounds here.

File a claim with the better business bureau in NC. Typically very consumer oriented. No lawyer needed.
