sharky,
if you make it to BAR drive, please bring one of those red (cup car like) front tow hooks for 996. i tried again (5th time) to find your shop.... my suggestion is you really really need a BIGGER sign. i drove up and down that road carlsen is on for about 40 min. i can't find your shop.....

Heya John,
Sorry yeps we do need a bigger sign. Just follow this. When you go past Carlsen just keep on going until you see Auction City on your left (same side as Carlsen). As soon as you see that then just turn right into that industrial complex and we're the 2nd and 3rd Bay doors down. Also just give us a call before you come!
Thanks!

Route choices
OK folks, I have two or three possible routes for tomorrow's drive/lunch. Here's a brief synopsis of the different routes. Please post your opinions if you feel one way or another about any of them...
1.) Route as originally planned
This route would take us to Big Sur on all back roads once we get south of Gilroy. It is very scenic and contains some of the best back roads I know of (Fergusson Nacimiento Road). The drive would take us through Ft. Hunter Liggett which requires showing your DL, vehicle registration and proof of insurance at the guard shack. The MP's are generally cool with groups as long as no one acts reckless within the garrison.
Going this way would take all of 4 hours but has nice fueling and regathering stops along the way. Given the time required for this route, we cannot socialize at the start and would need to defer all of that sort of thing at lunch.
2.) Most direct route
Here we would drive down and back HiWay 1 from Monterey on. I consider this the stand by route if we spend too much time at the start/meeting spot.
3.) Most direct, plus a little backroad.
In this case, we spend too much time at the start, but folks want some back roads. In this case, I would likely back track a bit and head over to Santa Cruz and down the coast.
FWIW, I have detailed route instructions and maps for option 1, so it could be a self paced thing if folks are not too worried about arriving at lunch all at once...
