Question Cup holder instead of Cassette Tape holder

Does anyone know a vendor that has a cup holder insert to replace the (useless) cassette storage in the center console?

There is a guy on Ebay that sells them: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=2485191287

I believe they are covered in leather. I had talked to him awhile ago about making one in carbon fiber but haven't heard anything in awhile.

I took out the cassette holder because it just looked really stupid. Now I just have the hole there waiting to be filled...

I too removed my useless, ugly, POS cassette holder. I replaced it with the factory part that is just a small dish for holding stuff like sunglasses and cell phones. Just be sure to order the stupid rubber pad for the bottom, since it is a separate part number. I then purchased the cup holder in the group buy a couple weeks ago that mounts on the seat rail. That is a VERY nice design!

Franck:
You can look over the archives. I believe there was a lot of discussion couple of months ago on the options. Here is one:

This company has a drink holder that replaces the cassette tray. They also have a very nice "flip down" cupholder that mounts on the console. I have one in Classic Gray.

Arrwin, yes there is a CD holder that goes where the cassette holder is. Not sure of the price or part number.

The Box, CD Storage is part # 993 552 987 00 BYR with a retail price of.....hold your breath....$275.00. I think you could call some of the dismantlers and find one a bit cheaper.

Jim,

If it's a marble grey Cd holder, I may be interested.

Cupholders and CD carriers in that area get in the way of my elbow when shifting. Try and drive with the Cassette things extended up, and see if they affect your ability. I have the Porsche tray and the little rubber pad, it holds a few things, and that's enough for me.

I use the Volkswagen Passat side-of-console cupholder.

Default cup holder

Hi Jagbuff:
Check Stuttgart Performance. They have a leather (all factory colors) 2 cup holder that fits into the console. Nice and clean look. It's the one I am going to get. Good Luck. Tony
