Hey all,
Learned a lot of 993 info here from all of you. Whats a jiffy way to remove loose change from under the drivers seat. The offending stuff is between the dme and floor pan. Any quick fixes besides pulling the seats???
Thanks,
Bob Festa

Get an extendable magnet. Looks like a magnet stuck on the end of an antenna. Available at any parts house. Snapon's blue point is the best ~$9; its got a shield to keep it from getting stuck on the sides along the way. use mine all the time.

I don't think magnets can pick up coins....
The only sure way to get them all out is to remove the seat and the DME and the metal plate under the DME to get them all out.

I agree. I had my seat out for another reason, and I found several coins under there. There’s no way to reach them without removing all the stuff in the way.

Get a hanger or even something bigger for a fast job as long as it can access. Buy a roll of foam tape and put them on at one end. Stick that end in there and get them out. You can easily get at least 2 coins out at a time. Whenever the tape get dirty and not stick anymore, change to new one. I pull 20 coins out of my cassette player (yes, the cassette player, Kids ) in less than 5 mins.
Don't know what the under seat look like but just an idea.

I suggest we start a charity with everyones change from under their seats. I'll head it up and employ the Enron methods of accounting, we'll look like a great bunch of giving people. And just think, I could hand out loans for valve jobs!! Perhaps even invest it in some stocks because that's doing so well and consitantly at the moment!

Bob,
Looks like it's time to upgrade to GT3 seats. It would the proper course of action since you are going to "all the trouble" of removing the factory seats.

Damn you Anir!
I almost had those GT3 seats out of my mind and was settling down to just putting aftermarket racing seat to me and painting backs. Now, after seeing that thing again, I'm just about to put an ad to sell my black leather sport seats and sending an e-mail to Gert...
And guys, don't leave those coins down there, I took the trouble digging them out, another weight reducing 'modification' completed!

Three Wheelin'

I too had coins under the seat and they were driving me crazy. I un-bolted the seat and leaned it way foward onto the steering wheel. I then removed the nuts (I think it was held down with nuts) on the DME box. I then was able to slightly lift up the DME box and use a wire hanger with a piece of very sticky stuff on the end of it to reach under the box and retrieve the coins. CAUTION: the bolts holding the seat to the track are very soft and will strip easily. Also, there are threads on this subject in the archives...you might want to check them out.

Removing stuff from under the seats is easy!
If you want a real challenge, try removing foreign objects from INSIDE the door sill.
How do they get there? Ask my three year old, and he'll show you how much you can fit into the slot that the front seatbelts retract into...

Go into a large, empty parking lot, and start driving in a big circle to the right. Acelerate and make the circle smaller, while placing your left hand down the sides of the seat and grab the coins as they spin out.
