Question Buying a 993, need advice

Hello everyone, first post here.

I am a former owner of a 997 4S MK2 and am currently looking for a 993.
I found one that I like but found some things that bother me a bit.
It's a 993 C2 from 1994 with sports pack, sound system, 92L tank, ...
She has had a complete new paint and the job looks decent.
I have full history, lots of bills and it has 51,000 miles.
She totaled 49,000 miles in 2004, then 50,000 in 2012 and 51,000 in 11/2022
In 2022, there was a major maintenance, for around $9100 (official Porsche garage)
- Electric case ? + Front Abs Sensor + Major Maintenance ($4394)
- 2 belts
- New central rear light
- New clutch service + dual-mass flywheel ($2469)

The seller (professional) says that the car will leave to finish a small maintenance for small things in 2 weeks (missing seals, buttons etc, probably after the repaint)

Any opinion on this car is welcome :-)

Thanks very much !
Seb

Joints are uneven

loose bolt and the lever moves

is that level of rust acceptable ?

Passenger side, why is it orange ?

What is this bar for ? Sway bar ?
Are those dents in it "normal" ?

BIG RED FLAG for me is the mileage gaps and how little was added. I would want maintenance records during that time period to substantiate the so little to nonexistent mileage. Seems awfully suspect to me. These car’s ODO can easily be disconnected! With the values now I would want a full explanation and proof or I would walk.

Seems like a lot of surface rust and salt (?!) all over the car.

The repaint is a bit of a red flag and I’d really want to understand “why”.

Thanks @Gbos1
The car is in Belgium and we have an official tracking system.
Every time the car does some light maintenance, changes tires, oil, etc., it is tracked and the mileage is uploaded to the database.
Here is the file below.
The seller says the car has been stored and unused.
I haven't asked why yet.
Now the car has 83,000 km
I will have a two-year warranty on major parts (engine, gearbox, frame, brakes, etc.)
I am thinking of asking the seller to agree to a review by my Porsche mechanic.

This 993 looks significantly worse than any other low mileage example I’ve come across. Seems like it was driven often on salted roads in the winter without being properly weatherproofed and maybe flood damaged inside.

Big question: how much are they asking?

That car looks flood damaged by the rust inside and that headliner was not done properly. Lots of questions here. Depending on price, could be a good project.

Thanks !
I think it's more dust than salt, I took the pictures with a flash, I'll check it next time.
About the rust, that level is not common on a 30 year old car ?

He's asking $79000
Yes, the headliner is missing the joints

That rust is not common and that price is outrageous for that condition. Take it for a professional PPI. I have a feeling it's hiding a lot. For the money, there are much better examples out there.

Belgium is not California unfortunately, so yes, the roads are sometimes salty but the cars are more exposed to rain than to salt. Less than in the UK, but still.

Wow this car looks rough. The upholstery on the A pillars looks like it needs to be completely redone. I'm guessing a windshield guy touched it and must have been blind.

Lots of corrosion and the dents that you're asking about looks like it's the oil return line. if so, the dents are not normal. If you are able to get on a lift I would check the 6 oil return tubes. My guess is they are nearly done with this much corrosion elsewhere.

The HVAC control unit (CCU) looks like its from the 964.

Why is there a missing fastener from the fuel door? There are 2 phillips screw heads in one of the tires? On that same picture, the wheel looks bent. Also, is the AC belt is missing?

Finally, you can faintly see it but the transmission looks to be 'wet'. Best case, the transmission fluid was spilled over and nobody cleaned up after. Or the input shaft seal is leaking (very common). Worst case the rear main seal is leaking.

I'm at the beginning of my research, but it seems that the prices in Europe are higher than in the United States

For the upholstery, it's not just a missing joint ?
I just noticed that the HVAC is missing his belt.
Indeed, one more missing fastener, probably because of the paint job.

Well, that car had some history to tell probably, or just bad mechanics worked on it.
Porsche just did the motor, maintenance, clutch etc.

Looks like it was stored underwater for a decade? I don't like what I see at all.
