I feel like the Vesuvio cars often times don't photograph well. When you see one in person it's incredible how much variation the color has. In bright light is metallic purple and in the shade it's grey or even a plumb color. Even the steel grey accents have a different shade depending on lighting. I think we're all very fortunate to have a 993 period regardless of color or wide/ narrow body. Since I got my 993, my GT3 spends a lot more time on the lift.

With fees that's a $117,000. 77k, 6 owner NB. That might be a new benchmark.

$200k WBs will be the norm soon. Where will it end?

Rising tides raise all boats (that don’t have holes).

I was looking for some original MSRP information on the 993 and found the link below with prices and production quantities. It’s actually a very good summary across all models. Considering the entire model line, including turbos, there were only around 25k 993’s produced; and in general, prices have about doubled in 25 years. The market is speaking. As a current owner I’m happy to just observe. I expect there will be a correction or momentary plateau, but if these cars are as good as we have been saying, we shouldn’t be surprised the market is finally taking heed. And these new electric cars will do nothing but drive up prices even more of enthusiast vehicles. IMO.

These auction valuations would suggest that market value has approximately doubled in the past 2 years. A 77k mile NB must have been <$60k a couple of years ago? Of course that car might just be an outlier, but all these stratospheric WB sale prices are making me wonder.

.

You are correct; most of the gain has occurred in the last couple years. Could have been too large of a drop earlier; could be people have more disposable income after canceling vacations and outings for a year. I’m not sure, but current prices are 50-100% higher than original MSRP. 96 and 97 model year prices are higher because turbos are included in those years. There are a few other models that can make this claim about increases over MSRP, but not many.

I expect the 964 will see similar increases if they haven’t already. I know 40 year old SCs are trading at MSRP, and some SC outliers are significantly higher.

Also, not sure if you clicked on the model number (highlighted in blue), but there is some good summary info for each year’s car.

964s are already there

it could be that these cars have all been historically undervalued.

it could be that our dollar isn't worth anything now.

Or it could be that the world has gone nuts and people are paying $10,000 over sticker for a frickin Kia.

this one honestly blew my mind more than any of the previous WB prices. from what i saw, this was an ordinary C2 NB, in what appeared to be very clean condition, with 77k miles. sport seats were not original. nothing overly special to warrant $117k. i guess just a few people really liked the car and had to have it. <mind blown emoji>

I have no rebuttal on the world going nuts. This checks out.
