I hope I’m wrong because they deserve to set the bar. But I don’t think they will. It will be interesting to watch. I am of the mind the #1 buyers for those cars are on bat not at Amelia.

Why do you say that?

I think the after market seats are a big negative.

One word: Provenance

so you would prefer stock seats vs the Waldemars? You’re probably on an island on that one.

Make that two…but that wouldn’t stop me from buying one of Rudy’s cars!

as someone that has his seats in my car…. Dude nobody has heard of or cares about those seats except for the 50 of us in this thread. The high end market does not want aftermarket anything.

This thread never ceases to entertain. All the unicorn 993 wide body owners I know, own and/or know about Waldemars and would prefer them over the standard stock seats. My C2S had Factory Sport Seats that I bought during my tenure before the world turned crazy. I kept them for posterity in case I get the 993 itch again, so I get it, but still would do Waldemars vs stock.

And to return to topic that was @Opo ’s signature mod so yes these cars will get their worth as there’s a cause behind them aside of their known provenance. Don’t be surprised they all break 2 bills.

as far as value / desirability / resale:

Factory hardbacks > OEM “added” hardbacks > Waldemar (aftermarket) hardbacks

In the Drive video that I posted above, Rudy said that his Blue Turquoise C4S came with hardbacks when he bought it. Not sure if they were factory or if a PO added them. I have two cars with factory hardbacks, one that had them added by a PO, and two with OEM hardbacks I have bought from other Rennlisters (one set from Rudy). Still waiting on my Waldemar seats but I would greatly prefer factory or OEM hardbacks anytime.

EDIT: @JAB12 I see now that you were saying most would prefer Waldemar > standard (non-hardback) seats. I would agree as far as what an enthusiast would want in their car (I am putting them in one of my cars after all) but disagree on resale where I would say most buyers prefer factory over aftermarket anything.. putting condition aside of course (nice Waldemar seats would show better than very worn factory seats of course).

And considering the impact of 'originality' on value, that logic extension might apply to painting the original hardbacks vs leaving them be.
I have Waldemar's on order for that reason.

I don't think at the collector level a heavily modified car will get all the money of an unmodified car.

Didn't a heavily modified 2S just blow past 300k? I'm not sure everyone is after 100% stock.
