You say that... But I once told somebody that they need to lube the brakes on his Maxima. The moron emailed about two weeks later asking if both sides of the rotor face need to be covered, because the packet of grease was so small. I have not been as forthcoming with advise since. True story.

Back to tires... on 17" wheels, the PS2's in size 205/50R17 are not available anywhere here in Europe at the moment. The only alternatives seem to be PS4 (not S), or Pirelli P-Zero. Any ideas?

I put new tires on my 993 last year. I tried PS4S, instantly noticeable as squishy. Luckily my shop reached out to Michelin and swapped them for PS2. I like others wanted to try PS4S, they are great all rounder, dry/wet performance tire. Super happy with PS2 and glad I did not settle. Handling is sharper, better road feel. This might be because I'm used to Cup 2s, Dunlop Sport Maxx (new name now Good Year something) on a couple other cars I have. For me, it's about sport driving in the 993 in dry conditions. So I wanted the best tire for me.
For a daily driver, sure I may go PS4S.

You can wave anything you want. This is a fact of (my) life. Try to help people who suddenly move to this country and have to drive without having any prior experience... get fun facts like this. Adjust accordingly, try again. But, again, you can wave whatever you feel like waving, free country.

So the rep from Michelin said the PS2 was old technology and was being phased out. What will everyone do?
I am not in the same camp as others apparently and found the exact opposite of what I am reading here. Even tire rack comparisons show the 4s to be an all around better tire than the PS2 which I agree with entirely. What am I missing you guys are feeling? If anything I found the PS2's danced around due to the softer sidewall vs the 4s which is far more planted and less noisy.I was afraid to drive my turbo and 928 in the wet with the PS2's, not the case with the 4s's.
Another point. How many here have modified their suspensions in any way? If so not sure if you realize that throws the N spec testing out the window.

I noticed I didn't like the PS4S when I got down the road from the tire shop. Drove home for another 30 minutes and asked to swap out of them. Felt softer and less precise.

For me not so fussed about N spec. end of the day which tire feels better and rates well.

Yeah I don't know what to say. Not denying your experience either. Could be different strokes for different folks.

I find 90% of the time an alignment can change ones perspective on how the car is handling long before someone can tell tire differences. Yet I can't tell you how many I see that are driving a car totally out of alignment and have no idea. Most of the high end well known shops I know of that many swear by can't properly align a car to save their life. I trust very few when it comes to aligning a car and dealerships are usually the worst. The 993 is one of the more difficult air-cooled to get right. Special tools are needed to adjust the kinematic toe-in alignment. I find that most shops don't have this simple tool yet charge for their alignments which are usually off... If you haven't had your car aligned I would focus there and any shop you chose I would ask to see the kinematic tool before letting them touch the car.
So assuming it has nothing to do with the alignment just my .02 worth but I usually give any tire a few hundred miles to scrub in and remove the mold release before I can make any conclusive decisions.
