What's it worth - '96 C4S Aero 5-Speed Manual Coupe
Hi all,
I came across a local private party seller with a 993 C4S manual coupe, it's a wide body, 5-speed manual, mid 70k miles, black with grey interior and full factory aero. It's not listed online so I can't share a link - he's asking for interested parties to "make an offer" rather than putting a price on it. Curious what sort of money it's worth. Any thoughts would be great.
Thanks
Michael

If he is local, I'd get a PPI before making an offer. If it is perfect I'd say $70-75k or so.

He's "fishing" for whomever gives him the highest offer. Bull$hit way of doing sales.
Ask about his listing a manual as a 5-speed and make him an offer ONLY with a PPI contingency.

- Have in mind a price range assuming no story (means $1-2k in some catchup work anyway) or some story ($5-10k). If horror story then you already know to walk.
- Schedule a test drive to give yourself a 1st hand feel.
- Ideally ask for a Rennfax on this forum. It's even money some brothers around Philly w/ 993 knowledge can participate and give you an insider's perspective.
- After the test drive, if you still like it, make an offer subject to PPI based on your impression. Here's the tricky part, there is no guarantee the car won't be sold from under you while you expense the PPI $$ (range from $400-$800), or if significant issues were found the seller won't walk away leaving you high+dry; though it is unlikely someone will scoop in during your transaction w/o having spent PPI monies of his own before completing the purchase.
- If at any one time your instincts say otherwise, you'd have earned a free test drive

No Tiptronics ever in C4S .... only manual 6 speed from the factory.

If it turns out to be a 5-speed something is very very wrong. Like an earlier G50 transmission was put in it and this would suggest the driveline is cobbled together and may not even be a 4 wheel drive.
