Post Richard Sloan?

Anybody dealt with this private owner/broker in CT? He has an amazing collection of Porsches including several Turbo S and "S" cars with less than 200 miles on them

Richard specializes in very low mileage Porsches. I did look at one a friend of his was selling, and it was in excellent shape, if not a bit overpriced. However, if you're looking for a low mileage Porsche, Richard is a source, and from my one meeting with him, he seemed like a knowledgable, responsible, and sincere collector/seller. I wouldn't hesitate to do business with him.

A year ago when he learned I was looking for a very low mileage 993, he contacted me. He promised the moon and talked me into considering him my agent and for me not to work through anyone else. As it turned out, he never contacted me after that and I finally gave up on him. I am told, however, that he has access to some very nice cars, but almost exclusively TTs.

He has some inventory listed on his website (sloancars.com) although I don't have a feel for how often it's updated. The asking prices don't seem out of line.

Thanks for all the replies,
Luis

I am a new member and I have delt with Richard Sloan. In Aug/Sept of '08 I contacted him after seeing his ad in a Porsche magazine. I sent him pictures of my Black/Black '97 TT with 15k miles. He said he could sell it fast and had buyers looking for one and that he would arrange to have it picked up and shipped to him ASAP (as he had buyers standing by). It sounded good, he appeared to be reputable, so I put my car on the trailor and off it went. It took 4-5 days for it to arrive to him and everything seemed ok. As soon as he received the car suddenly the buyers were nowhere to be found. He assured me that it wouldn't be long that he would be able to sell it soon as he had new buyers coming in daily. Anyway long story short is that my prized childhood dream car sat there for almost a year, with the same story, I have someone coming in next week to buy it....blah blah blah. I told him to lower the price several times which I believe he did but the car still did not sell. Finally when I couldn't take the constant rantings from my wife that I was getting duped and ripped off by this guy in CT I asked Richard to send the car back to me which he said from the get go he would at his expense. I swear to god I thought I was going to have to get an attorney to get my own car back from this clown. He dodged my calls, wouldn't return them for weeks. Then when I would talk to him he said he was going out of town and would send the car when he returned...this story just goes on and on.....
At one point one of my friends knew someone who lived in NYC and said he could send him over and sent up an appointment with Richard to buy my car and then just take it to the police station for me. THIS IS HOW BAD IT BECAME....I'm thinking up ways to steal my own ******* car from this guy. You can not just roll up and talk to this guy....his location is kept a secret by him. You can't trace/locate this clown he has this secret hiding thing down...he doesn't have a land line..only a cell number which of course is registered to someone else. (this guy is a piece of work). Finally after pleading with him and threating legal action (his brother is a lawyer BTW) he sent me my car back. DO NOT SEND YOUR CAR TO THIS GUY....yeah he's a collector alright...like a fricking black hole of other people's cars. I just looked at his website and he has the same Black '97 TT that was sitting next to mine from almost 2 years ago still sitting there. Hopefully this will help someone out there. Peace.

I visited him over a year ago during my search for a 993. He had tons of beautiful inventory and always stayed in contact with me. He has the "used car" sales thing in his demeanor. He pumped a lot of BS but overall I have nothing real negative to say about him. He was willing to negotiate but the car I looked at had a partial respray which killed the deal for me.

Was this disclosed by him, or noticed by you?

Umm, how hard would it be to sell a 15K mile black/black '97 993TT yourself and save yourself all this drama?
