Just curious but what would you trade/sell/replace your 993 with?
Recently I've been hunting a 993 twin turbo. Some dealers and friends have suggested I look at the 996s. I drove them and found them very impressive cars.
Others have suggested I look at a Viper, Z06, M3, M5, Evolution, Boxster even a Lotus. My position has always been if I sell my 911 I'm replacing it with a 911.
Am I alone in this boat? Just curious. Marcus.

I looked at many cars, and read and drool over many more. But when it boils down to it, since I was 5 or 6 years old, I loved the 911. This is my car. As to whether I also get a tt or stay with the C4S, I don't know, but I'm in the family, and I'm staying! This is the best, most satisfying, most beautiful car I have ever owned, and I still take quick looks into my garage just to see it and appreciate it. I am a Porsche nut, after all is said and done.

I think those other cars are a compromise. I have driven
996 coupes, Boxsters, 996 Cabs, 996 TT tip, and a Z06.
The newer Porsches are numb feeling. If I was going to
replace my TT it would have to be a TTs OR maybe a GT3.
If I could find a F-car that was in the right price range and is
not of the $50,000 for a oil change kind, 355 or 360 I might
consider it, but right now I think its too much bling bling for me.
I think a GT3 or 993 TT S would be my only real options. unless
the 997 is some kind of must have.
i notice people sell Vipers really quick, somthing must be up
with those cars.
Marcus I dont think you should give up! Texans dont give up on
anything, the are more determined than a hungry pit bull.
You'll find it. I wanted Arena Red and I got a Midnite blue
I love it now. When I drive it I just enjoy it I dont really think of
the color. Does it HAVE to be white??

other cars I would consider
Z06, though I would probably hold out for whatever (z07 maybe?) variant comes form the new C6
Lotus Elise - looks to be a very impressive car
996 GT2-3 - or X50 Turbo those do it for me the rest of the 996's just don't
Ruf 3600 S - Ruf'ed Boxster S with a 996's 3.6 litre engine
I would take a 993 TT or TT S over any 996 other than the GT 2 or GT 3, It would be especially hard for me to say no to a GT3 over just about any other car. The GT2 versus a 993 TT S would be a very tough call but I would lean towards the TT S
I am not into the sedans so I doubt I would even look at the M3-5 or E55, same goes for the power SUV's

I cannot think of any car (Italian exotics included) that I would replace my 993 RUF BTR-2 with. The ride, the look, the exclusivity. This is IT for me.
In fact, my M5 and my RUF will keep me happy till my dying day.

Ack... I can't imagine trading cars with my dad. I get bored driving his car (01 996 6spd). I think there are only two options that I would go with: 1)993 Turbo 2) Lotus Esprit (V8, with the redesigned interior). Saying that, I have never driven a Lotus. The gearbox is supposedly tough to deal with and I don't know how much I would like to drive one every day. I considered checking out a 95 S4S before the 993, but quickly cancelled that idea for practical reasons. On the other hand, I have seen only a handful in person and they are so sweet to admire.

Just curious if I'm missing something more.

I can't imagine wanting to own any other car except for a super exotic rather than a 993 TT. I own an older Lotus Esprit and although they are much better today, they are still a rather unreliable and fragile car. Everything else is just transpotation. Hey OG, of course he wants white - is there any other color? Mike W

God willing, I'll always own a 911. I would consider a 993TT if it had come with a tiptronic transmission. Living in over-populated traffic-congested So. Cal., having a stick shift is out of the question.
I'm going to wait and see what the 997's look like when they come out.
If they look good, I might consider getting a C4S.
Marcus, you have to patient in your search. Looking for that right car and the thrill of the hunt is what's fun to me.

Mike, I live in the desert. Guess what EVERYBODY drives
WHITE. WHite trucks, white cars, white SUV's, White Schoolbuses,
WHite Lowriders, white Hearses. My wifes Lexus is white.
It gets boring driving to work with 10,000 of my closest
friends in their long lines of white cars. There are silver TT
and Red TT's and Blue TT's why get white? your interior is
not gonna be white! There hard to find in the TT, so get some
color!

I wouldn't replace my 993 with anything but another 993 (not even a GT3). I really hope I love the 997, but I'm not counting on it.
Of course, I'd be happy to add other cars to the collection...

Hmmm. I agonized long and hard before parting with the $$$ to put a 993 engine in my Carrera. I drove some 993's, 996's, and 986's....all of which would have cost me less than I now have in my 911, but couldn't find anything with the visceral feel of my 911. Hard to believe, I know...upgraded and lowered torsion bar suspension (29's and 22's), 2800 lbs., no power steering, no AC, Recaro SRD's, 930 brakes, roll bar, etc. This car is an absolute BLAST to drive, street or track. I've never owned a car that provides the sheer thrill of performance driving that I get from this setup. I'm probably going to get flamed big time for saying this, but I can't imagine another car, Porsche or otherwise, that would float my boat like this one...especially since I made it into exactly the car of my dreams.
I was surprised that no one replied with a model older than the one they have now. Not even a 73 RS???
OK, I'll shut up now.
