enjoying something is not the same as ‘fighting for it’. @ipse dixit is right, the 7-speed PDK needs an actual shifter. My recollection, without looking it up again, is that reverse is selected by a cable connection (or something like that).
It is pretty sad the attitude some folks have here towards the person that created the most sought after cars in Porsche’s history. Yes he is a great sales person but he is very passionate about driving feel and cars like the S/T would never exist without him.
Go drive any of the GT cars and see how special they are.

AP talks his book, like everybody else. I don't know what people expect...

I have a 3.2, a 997.2 GT3, and a 992 T.
3.2 = go kart for the road. Nothing comes remotely close in feel.
997 = still raw in Carrera trim but a logical middle ground between both.
T = the rawest of the 992 Carreras and still more GT than raw sports car.
The grass is always greener.
992 is an excellent experience in the right trim.
3.2 experience is pure and irreplaceable.
I think they are the pinnacle aircooled and personally prefer them to 964s and 993s.
I would only sell a 3.2 for a better 3.2.

I don’t need a GT vehicle because my S8 fills that slot just fine.
Thanks for taking the time to give me your first hand experience. Mike

This is probably the most useful response I have ever come across. In my neck of the woods, there are no 992’s available to test drive because all incoming vehicles at the dealership are sold orders, so no seat of the pants experience available. Incidentally, I purchased my 997.2 in 2011 because I thought the upcoming 991 was moving a bit more toward GT at that point than I wanted, and the 997 has turned out to be a sweet spot for me. At that time, I was able to test drive several 997’s which were on the lot, and consequently I was able to put together a build order that was exactly to my liking.

Thats crazy that you haven’t been able to test drive a 992 in PA. It’s in its 6th model year.

But I can also see how you might want to try something different after such a long haul.
Just don't sell the 3.2 for a new car. Add if you can instead.
