Yep - that was me. Still standing by that statement, though since you are on the 'lesser' Softronic tune you may never know. Whatever... enjoy.

lesser? In what way and what is the basis for this comment?

Curious why you think the Softronic tune is “lesser”? What’s draws that conclusion?

I make that statement based on M-Engineering's very detailed response above, which infers the Softronic tune is making 'less' power due to the tuning technique Softronic is using (commanded mode rather than enriched lambda targets), etc. I also feel the car has a latent injector issue that will manifest in time, perhaps not 500 or even a thousand miles, but 'eventually'. The good news is the Softronic tune works for your car, so drive and enjoy.

Regards

I read through the thread, i would have suspected something with the new turbos myself.,
but i was satisfied with the answers from both M engineering and flat 6 so i purchased an M engineering tune and cat bypass today from flat 6. Seems like they handled the situation well.

There is nothing special or different in the tuned lamda table posted and is typical of what a Porsche turbo would use tuned even dating back to a 996TT. I will say its actually a bit leaner than what I have used for decades ...So by those standards my tune should make the problem even worse yet it didn't. In any case that would not cause any different stress on the injector and is irrelevant.
The stock lamda as posted for this model in discussion is used in the 992T, S , GTS and the TTS. So a 3.0T ,3.0S , 3.0GTS or 3.8TTS use the same lamda target of 1.0 stock.

Now as far as the Injectors the issues as described in the TSB are from electrical problems in which "BARRYC" didn't have and is basically an open circuit. The fault codes for them had not been generated either. This is why the harness is requested with the injectors and asked not to be tampered with to check the full continuity with the injector attached when returned to PCNA. The fault codes are for a circuit issue so there wouldn't be failing injectors as mentioned from lambda settings. He was experiencing misfires which can cause damage to the cats, just to clarify. Im sure many exhaust manufacturers that sell cats can understand that and applies to stock cats as well.

I didn't think I would have to chime in on this and that someone would have noticed these items yet I was mistaken. Ive been building race engines and tuning them for more than 40 years. Even the first chips in 1983... There comes a point when you write something down people forget about it a week later and takes more time to explain it all over again. I would say the hypothesis can now be proven incorrect.

Best,
Scott

Btw, the tech at my dealer said the same about the TSB. Thus my belief my issue was not the injectors.
