How many people in this thread actually do not say "I have (insert car here)" or "I have driven (insert car here)"?

Shameless self bragging seems to be a relevant data point with other cars that one might be considering now?

Topic: I am not considering any 992.2 or any other vehicles as I am completely happy.

Good point. In 1776, King George labeled our forefathers rebels and terrorists. All depends on your perspective, right?

I think if some of those people had their way, 911 development would have stopped at the 993 or 997.2. Those generations represent peak 911 for some people. I am interested in both the ERay and the hybrid 911, you’re bringing F1 tech into these cars now which to me is intriguingly exciting.

Well I agree that those buyers of the 986/996/987/997 that suffered catastrophic engine failure because of a IMSB failure or bore scoring would be among those wishing 911 development stopped at the 993. I am very, very impressed with the engineering of the 992.2GTS but am I buying one? No. I will reassess it in a few years. Might be fighting to get one, might not. Have no interest at all in the E Ray.

I like understated elegance. Porsche, Aston Martin, some Ferraris. The C8 is obnoxious although not as obnoxious as a Lambo.
"Th C8 is obnoxious", Really?

Not sure if you are referring to me but the reason I said I have a cybertruck is because what im saying im saying it from experience. The cybertruck is the most interesting car out there by far, and if you are a car person and looking int different things there is nothing better than that truck out there. I find peoples opinion on cars alot more relevant if they have one of the cars they are talking about. It's not bragging its putting my words into context of an owner.

Nope, I was being general and not specific. I found it odd that the topic is what other cars one might be considering (purchasing) instead of a 992.2 and then it goes off the rails or in the weeds of what people already own.

Maybe I'm just cranky today. : )

With Porsche continuing to push the prices upward I'm now expecting to spend ~ $300-325k (inc ADM) for my next 911, so it's brought other brands/vehicles into focus. I'm now cross shopping the McLaren Artura or a lightly used 488 or 296. Clearly the 911 wins for practicality and reliability here, but $300k+ is approaching entry level supercar territory. The 911 is an INCREDIBLE value at $150-200k, but even the GT cars have some mighty competition when the price creeps up as much as we're seeing.
I considering same, have been waiting for the .2 release of the GT3 Touring and Turbo S. Hope they don't screw them up. Ha. Not thrilled to pay ADM to get one but people that require MSRP are in the land of puppies and rainbows for these two, at least in my area, and likely never own either. It's just reality at the top of the Porsche food chain.

992.2 makes absolute sense for like 90% of 911 owners. Unless you are a diehard manual guy, which they will have something for that coming up. The power train just seems flat out better.

The full digital dash is the only thing I don't like, it's like replacing a nice mechanical watch with an apple watch. Not like the two screens in the 992.1 arent enough screen real estate.

I fully agree.

Although I do own several Rolex’s yet I am always wearing my Apple Watch, but I have become a bit of a health nut over the past 3+ years.

... but then those 993's have the valve guide wear issue requiring top end rebuilds, so should peak 911 stop at 964's ?

In many ways, I agree but wish they had kept the key and the analog tach. New power train has promise but not convinced. It is after all only a 5 HP gain over my 992.1 GTS and more tech to break. Will take a wait and see approach as I think many of us will.

For context, I have recently took delivery of my '24 Carrera T (manual, ice grey). I relate to a lot of the sentiment in this thread. My previous ride was a 2017 GTI S (6-speed, cloth seats, tons of personality for under $20K). Though clearly my 992.1 is an upgrade in many respects (materials, build quality, etc), having a good bit of buyer's remorse. My only other 992 experience was the Porsche Track Experience in Birmingham. I have owned several vintage classics (currently a '65 Giulietta Sprint 1300). Understanding that I am still in break-in zone and live under 4K RPMs, I am a bit underwhelmed. I was expecting more engagement and perhaps less refinement. Though I suspected a higher trim 991 might have been a better choice for me, I had a hard time spending the same on a pre-owned 991 than I did on my 992 (no ADM in my case).

I have a deposit on a 992.2 GTS as I wanted PTS / Euro delivery (both unavailable to me at the time) and will likely pass. Keeping my eye on 991s, but that also doesn't feel right. Regrettably committed to 3-pedals as long as I can.

I had a 964 for 4 years. Wasn't my favorite. I preferred my Carrera that preceded it and the 993 that came after it.
