Default Last of the Manual 992?

Fortunate to have ordered a late 992.1 S with a Manual with a late July/early delivery. Had had 3 992 cars, but all with PDK. This will be my first 992 Manual car. Given what I have read, not sure how much longer the 992 will be available with a manual, but pretty damn excited. Will be interesting in what Porsche has in store May 28th.

I'd argue using a manual transmission is a hell of a lot more fun than manually winding a car or rolling up windows 🤷‍♂️.

Who knows, a lot of people think the manual is going away.. I jumped on a late 991.1 allocation as well, and ordered it with 3 pedals. My lock date is June 6th and delivery date is August 12th. I’m anxious to see what they say on May 28th as well.

Why fret? Like hand starters and roll up windows (miss those?) MTs are a romantic relic of the past, along with manual dipsticks, chokes, and handbrakes. Move on, and worry about the things you can control….

Yeah but the whole "last of the" line narrative is so sexy and attractive to put in your for sale ad. Buying a Porsche 911 is also buying a lottery ticket.

You could say the same about gasoline powered engines. What a romantic relic of the past. 🙄 I’ve also heard that the 7 speed is funky because it was designed/built around the PDK people don’t like it compared to the 6 speed in a Cayman or GT car 🤷🏻‍♂️I don’t know because I have a 992 GTS that is a PDK and a 718 GT4 that is a manual. I’ve never driven a manual 992 Carrera.

I did not find with the 7 speed manual in my 2024 T “funky.” If one has driven manual transmissions exclusively since acquiring a drivers license like myself and for nearly forty years then the 7 speed matter is truly trivial nitpicking.

I think to be a real funky car the manual need the "stupid" low end rpm torque of a Turbo ,
a manual that has NA engine high end torque is a nonsense especially with long geared Porsche transmission

While it share some parts with the 7 speed PDK, it is not "designed/built around the PDK.
The 7 speed manual is entirely fine. The 6 speed manual in the GT series cars is just transcendent.
The 6 speed found in the Cayman is not the same as the manual gearbox in the GT series.

If Porsche is truly getting rid of an obtainable (T, S, GTS) manual 992 then I might be telling my wife we have the money to build the addition on our house we have been thinking of.

Like others said what a dumb comparison...
Hand rolling windows and hand starting engines are a pain in the dick and not enjoyable.
If you think a manual transmission is a pain and not fun then by extension, what fun is driving? Is it just a chore and you would prefer full autonomy all the time? Not me...

I could see the argument for autonomy on a long road trip (but not for me personally I still enjoy driving) but on a vehicle like a 911 the whole point is enjoying the drive and a manual just adds to that engagement.

Please go ask a modern Lambo, Ferrari, McLaren or Vette driver. Maybe they know something you don't? And by inference, a 992 with a PDK is less of a car? The Germans would laugh you out of the room.

I don't think anyone here believes you can't have fun in a car with an automatic transmission. It's more your notion that we should just give up on a manual transmission because it's a dinosaur that needs to go away, as something that is a nuisance that we would be well enough to not "deal" with. Some of us enjoy using 3 pedals, simple as that.
