Default The new Mercedes GT Coupe

Test drove the new GT63 the other day before I placed my Carrera S order today.... I would say Mercedes is getting close, but no cigar.

After the test drive, I immediately went down the street to a Porsche dealer and slid behind a new C4 Coupe. The 911 is so much more roomy and has much better visibility. The Mercedes is typical AMG... over tire'd, drives a bit like your wrestling a Russian circus bear, over tech'd and just more brash. I was surprised how small the Mercedes is in person, it looked bigger in photos. I also can't imagine the hit you'd take driving one off the lot?!

It's too heavy, that's the key problem with it.

Just another Jelly Bean design. It looks like all of the other large OEM's.

I would rather have the New Vantage than the Mercedes

Fit & finish looks good and the styling is decent enough, but the 911 styling is cleaner.

interesting
I have owned few AMG cars and I would say that they were all under tired and I always replaced OEM tires 10 mm wider
I drove the SL 63 recently and I really like it , but it is not a 911 .Though that engine and transmission were great . Interior was too busy and felt crowded . Their price dropped like a rock and bunch of them were lemons. Hope same thing does not happen to GT
but agree that competition is getting closer and with the games Porsche and their dealers are playing, it might push some people away

Our guide at the Porsche Museum stated, simply: "Mercedes is a taxi!"

The Mercedes profile looks like a 911 with an extra foot of length added to the front end-makes it look out of proportion.

What's ironic is that the more the 911 evolves, the more it becomes like an MB GT Coupe.

And the more MB iterates the GT lines, the more it becomes like the 911 used to be.

Very Funny and I'm going to use that.

You may already know this but growing up in the 70s and 80s in Germany, every single Taxi was a Mercedes. Probably because they could handle all the miles, especially if diesel. I think this started to change in the 90s to other makes, but a lot are still Mercedes.

They were 95% the diesel's. I was a taxi driver back then making some money while attending school. Mercedes even made special editions to be used as taxi's. These are as similar to an AMG/GT car as your Honda Accord vs a NSX back in time.

You were a Taxi driver in Germany? Where?
I remember as a kid, I always thought it was so cool to get to drive in a Mercedes.

Yeah, Dresden. Back in time we had no GPS or similar but had to take a driving test with instructors finding addresses on shortest routes possible just from memory. To get a ride we had CB and had to wait at preset call stations.

Oh wow. Very cool. Yeah, I remember the CB days. And remember how the Taxi drivers knew every single road in town. Crazy. I was born in Bonn and grew up there.
Anyway, I digress. Just thought it was interesting.
