The new Mercedes GT Coupe

I will NEVER understand the Mercedes design ethic that puts a massive amount of visual emphasis on their interior air vents. They want you to feel like there are many mini 747 jet engine turbines facing you and always in high contrast to the rest of the interior.

I dunno, the Merc 63 two door coupe not too shabby. Called my local dealer about it yesterday. Didn't have an allocation yet but expected to get one for a 2025 in the next few months. Asked him to put me down. I mean fully loaded with carbon, lift and all the goodies and a honkin V8 for around $250k. Might even be able to negotiate a discount, who knows.

traditionally these cars dropped like crazy
the SL 63 I test drove few months back in 23 , was a model 22 , MSRP 208 k, 300 miles , and ask was 132 k
so be careful
even my body, who is a GSM, at a MB dealership and big fan of AMG , advised me not not to buy one, unless they drop below 100 k

if you have to get an MB, get a used one.

I test drove the SL63. Great engine and transmission and a very luxurious GT cruiser. Nose heavy and a lot of bling bling in the cabin. As others mentioned, they depreciate like crazy. There are used cars out there under 5k miles (22/23 MY) with 40%+ discount. Would never buy this new.

Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo and Aston Martin the ones' I covet.

Purist, even the casual ones heckle the new design as "falling into the corporate line", meaning the new design lost much of its edging, classical look that set the car aside from the pack. To me MB really had something with the Gen 1 and should've continued on into the wild. Instead, it profiles like a Mustang and is far less distinguishable.

Drove a 2018 AMG GT for about 2 hours as a trade in at work.
I was expecting a somewhat more comfortable ride compared to a 911.
Man was I dissapointed.
The seat started to make me pretty sore after the first 45 minutes and I'm not a big guy by any means.
I liked the sound though.

I drove one recently and can say it would be a fun DD GT car with pretty decent baggage/storage room, especially if you get the rear seats (which fold down for additional space) the 4.0 VB is a solid engine and is very tunable if your into that kinda thing. The comfort seats are very nice and supportive, if you went with the performance seats that are pretty good too- but may give some issues on longer drives. Car sounds pretty darn good, with fairly aggressive shift points, even in the comfort mode. With all wheel drive now felt very planted and safe at higher speeds, and for those into the drifting thing (which I am not) I believe there is a drift mode that can be enabled to put all the power to the rear wheels. You can do a nice build of a 63 for around 200K, and will certainly out perform the lesser model 911s. Yes it will depreciate, but you can actually order and get one too…

I don’t quite get why some folks have to dismiss other cars like the AMG GT here? Is that because you need to justify you bought a 911? Or what’s up with that? You guys know there are other great cars on the road beyond an 911 and their owners might disagree with your preference of 911 vs theirs.
From my point of view - there are many real nice cars on the road and I enjoy meeting these folks and chat about car stuff and not diminishing one or the other. That’s petty. My AMG63 was a superb car too, just was time for a change for me. And I am sure interested to know if the new Mustang GTD really can compete with the GT3RS and may even be as good as they advertise it. I am simply enjoying cars vs oh, mine is better than yours stuff.
