I'm new to 911 Carrara World from Panamera and Tyacan; I noticed in the morning, while the car was still cold, that the engine gradually slowed and suddenly shut off after the car warmed up. Is this normal

Shut off? As in the engine stalled?

if not some kind of auto stop/start or manual transmission owner operation failure then definitely not normal.

The engine turns off, and I have to restart it again-- I have the autostart thing on, which I think I should turn off while warming up.

Sounds like start-stop feature...
*edit* You have to turn the key and restart it? What if you just release the clutch, what happens?

PDK—Is it Likely because the autostart is on? I usually pull out from the garage to the driveway, keep the car engine running and warming up, and the RPM runs high and slowly goes down to turn off the engine completely. Then I have to restart the car again, drive, and turn off the auto/start nonsense the minute I start driving.

Thanks, I will try that tomorrow --- I usually sit in the car playing with my phone until it warms up, and I didn't try to press the gas pedal since the PCM software, which has the autostart as one of my configurations, takes time to load. I will try to press on the gas pedal and see if it will come back to life

Or just get in the car and drive, per best practices.

Don’t wait, just drive off smoothly and keep it under 4k rpm until the oil temp comes up to ~180. There’s no benefit to idling a car to let it warm up… that was your grandfather’s Oldsmobile.

Before you take the advice to simply drive off, without waiting for it to warm up, try the pressing the accelerator, as @Tobeit suggested, and let us know what happens.
If it doesn’t start up, I think you should take it to the dealer.
Does anybody know if the owners manual has some information on this behavior?

The auto stop/start will not work while the car is in the initial warm up mode, as others have said most likely you have it in 'normal' mode and when the warm up cycle is completed stop/start kicks in. Totally normal and as designed.
As others say, you're doing more harm than good by sitting there and not driving off. The sooner you get the oil warm the better.

Thank you all. What you guys have said turned out to be true. It is because of the auto stop and the minutes I pressed on gas it came back to life. Interestingly, I didn't experience this with the 2020 Panamera.
