  • GTS and Turbo models will share a new 3.6 TT unit

So hang on, only 1 hybrid model a new trim between GTS and Turbo? And the rest of the trims get modest bump? Or every trim including Turbo S has the 80 hybrid bump?

The way I interpreted the article is that there will be one trim with 80 - 90 HP electric motor that will slot between the GTS and Turbo. The GTS and Turbo will do without the electric motors up front and will have a mild hybrid set up. The C2 and C2S will not become electrified.

What does it mean to have mild hybrid? Does that mean no hp power from hybrid engine buts for auxillary only and replaces alternator?

it’s about as confusing as their last article. Item 2 says all variants will be some form of electrified…

Hopefully this means no 48v for the Carrera and Carrera S. 🤞

I really don’t like this trend of making the fake diffusers stick out so much from the rear bumpers. Doesn’t flow with the lines; looks like a tacked on part.

This is a fake rendering, no?

This is from @3uros ’s post above of the C&D article.
Yes, it is obviously a rendering, but based on the spy shots of the rear, I would say it is a reasonable rendition of what the actual tail will look like without the camouflage.

I just got this issue in the mail as well. It is page 18 of the March/April C&D (15 Cars against the Clock) cover story. They just mention a new hybrid in 2025 with 395-hp twin-turbo flat-six with a total output of around 475 horsepower so about 80 horsepower with the hybrid. No mention of horsepower bump for GTS/Turbo. The GTS/Turbo will have the same 3.6 engine while the Carrera/Carrera S will use the old 3.0 engine. Seems this will better differentiate the GTS from the Carrera S.

On page 19, they mention the Audi R8 returning in 2026 as an EV possibly using parts from the 718 EV's.

My take ... C&D issue claims are totally speculative and likely BS. There would not be enough of a gap between the Turbo and GTS. GTS always comes out later, btw.

Yes, I interpreted the article the same way. One new hybrid model with the 80-90 HP electric motor while the GTS/Turbo will have a mild hybrid set up. The Carrera/Carrera S to use the same 3.0 engine with a modest hp bump.

Look at #2 in the change list, it says all 992.2 variants will have some sort of electrification. The way I read it the C2/C2S keep the same 3.0 but adding the 80hp front e-motor.

Mild hybrid could mean a small electric motor assisting the ICE, perhaps located in the PDK where they previously said there was room for future hybrid tech. That would be different from a high performance hybrid with a larger front electric drive motor and larger battery. Both would probably mean no manual though. This is all still speculation, but the facts that there have been zero spy shots of a .2 manual and the PDK hybrid space lead me to think that the manuals are done outside of the GT cars. Happy to be wrong about that!

There is definitely something missing. GT3 and GTS get 3.6 but GTS with turbos??? Doesn’t sound right at all.
