Should have replacement cable “by end of week”. Kinda surprised with CTEK's reputation that it appears there is a QC issue with the CC cables. Really hope replacement will solve the problem and be reliable.
How long does it take to get to step 2? I might have the same issue with my charger it’s stuck on step for for hours.

If the battery dies, I can plug in with car locked and frunk closed and use the CTEK recovery mode. Hopefully, I'll never have to do that.
Hey! Just wanted to point out that dielectric grease is an insulant, you should not use it to improve connectivity but to protect the connection once everything is connected together to avoid corrosion!

Had issues with connection using M8 comfort connect so ended up switching to this bolt instead. Working fine now.

Same experience here. Use the bolt. I used stock shorty connector since eyelet on Comfort Connector is too small for the bolt and I was too lazy to do anything about it.

I connected a CTEK to my car for the 1st time this week and even with a new battery, fitted that day by Porsche, the amber LED came on and the charger sat in '3' for a couple of hours before finally going to '4' and eventually all the way to '8'. Then when I took the car out on Saturday and drove it for 50 miles or so, and connected the charger up afterwards, it did the same again. i.e. amber LED on the connector then '3' on the charger for a while before eventually going to '8'.

Do others here find the same pattern? Just trying to understand if what I'm seeing is considered normal and is what I should expect. Call me wary after so many battery issues....!

Your experience duplicates mine which I believe is normal. I don't think indicator lights are very accurate or meaningful. As long as charger progresses through cycle with no abort/error lights, I’d say you are good.

That is the way it always worked for me also. As long as it is progressing through the stages and eventually gets to the end, it is all good.

That sounds pretty normal for the CTEK.

I know this has been discussed thoroughly but still have not found a consensus on whether to order the 56-629 with M6 eyelets or the 56-382 with M8 eyelets.

I think I prefer attaching to the strut tower brace since there is nothing else attached at that point. If I opt for the 56-629 will the larger bolt on the strut tower pass through the M6 eyelet? Or will I have to go with the M8?

Also does anyone know the correct torque specs for this strut tower bolt when retightening? It seems like a large bolt and would like to retorque to factory specs.

If there is an advantage to attaching to the smaller bolt behind the strut tower, I would like to hear them?

I’m like minded in the isolation of the strut brace bolt. It’s pretty low torque, would also be curious of the proper spec.
