Is there any downside to doing the eyelets on the positive and negative li battery posts? The eyelets I had with the CTEK couldn’t go to the negative post in the driver side wall.

You can just run the neg to a 6mm bolt on the passenger side strut tower the pos on the battery.

I may move it over to the strut, but my new CTEK Li charger did charge perfectly using the eyelets directly on the posts and based on CTEK’s website, that is perfectly fine.

seems like sparking is the potential issue historically but that really isn’t an issue with eyelets and CTEK chargers.

While I saw Matt from Obsessed Garage connect directly to the battery, I did just check the manual and it recommends connecting positive to battery and negative to the ground point. Not sure if that is for the risk of spark or possibly keeping the computer informed of what is going on. (Lithium section of manual picture below, but AGM is same)

CTEK, the final solution? I've enclosed two photos. I used the Comfort Indicator Eyelet (slightly longer cables than the included eyelet and clamp connector adapters). Positive lead on battery, negative lead on the shock tower. Checked the shock tower for a good ground. Wires are just long enough to allow the connector to be hidden by the frunk lid. Op check went great. This is a much cleaner install than my earlier one in which I had to attached a terminal clamp to the standard ground connection (the hex head on the left side near the brake reservoir).

I used the pigtails that came with the charger (had to find them). Same connection points as you, but the connector is so short, I then put the extension on and the excess cable in front of the battery and wired into the frunk.

I just hooked mine up yesterday and used the strut tower brace bolt for the negative. I chose this ground because nothing else is attached to it. Charged to green in a little over 17 hours.

If the battery dies, I can plug in with car locked and frunk closed and use the CTEK recovery mode. Hopefully, I'll never have to do that.
I had purchased the M6 CTEK eyelet on Amazon for a "snugger" fit, but then realized that the M6 cable didnt have a fuse like the M8 cable that accompanied my CTEK 56-926 Lithium Charger.
So I stayed with the bigger eyelets.... the M8 that has the fuse.

I also grounded to the bolt on the strut tower, per the owner's manual.

What CTEK cable did you use that allowed you to get right up to the cowling?

The supplied eyelet connector is a tight reach ... I used a clamp which gave me an extra inch. You can also attach to the RH shock tower (I have a post elsewhere) which eliminates the stretch. If you get the optional eyelet connector, it will even allow you to get the connector to reach under the frunk lid.

Found it.

Probably gonna go with the M6 eyelets because they offer a snugger fit.
I called a CTEK support guy and he said that both (M6 and M8) comfort "indicator" pigtails are 19" long.
So the lengths shown in the specs for Amazon are apparently wrong. The stock M8 eyelet that comes with the CTEK charger is roughly 12" in length.

The "Indicator" eyelets (either M6 or M8) are 19.6" in length, as stated on the CTEK website.

Hope this helps!

I was planning to connect my cable to the battery permanently. One terminal would obviously connect to the post on the battery circled in red, would I then need to loosen the earth terminal (circled in blue) in connect the negative eyelet or is there somewhere else? FYI, this is RHD car and i need the socket on the RHS.

Lucky on the RHS!

Since I didn't have this option (too far on the LHD cars), I didn't look too closely at it. Does it un-screw? Does the connector fit on the bolt that it is part of? For me, thanks to @F8Driver , I went with what he did and even though it looks like it is plastic, it has a metal washer under it and it worked nicely

So, does anyone know what Porsche does for all the lithium battery cars stored for multiple weeks without moving:
  • At the new overflow storage lot in France
  • Emden queue
  • Boat across the atlantic

They aren't trickle charging them, but perhaps they have a system to wake them up? I often wonder if those who have super long stays at Emden are actually waiting for new batteries...

Cars have a transport mode that sleeps the majority of the electronics. If you sat in your car off the transporter and played around, very little works. My TTS completed production first week in Sept, missing parts unknown, arrived end of Jan with battery at 83%- there is a read out in transport mode on the dash. It fell to 70% (another readout per the scanner) before being charged at the arriving port. I would think moving cars on temporary batteries with a swap out in Emden is unlikely, that’s a bit of work but a guess only. Upon delivery get a CTek maintainer and have your dealer wire the pigtail under the front cowl. You should be all set.
