CR’s top 10 “Most Satisfying Cars to Own” in 2023
Not my list (so don’t blame the messenger), but happy to see that 2 of the cars I own, are on this list. The list is tabulated based on what owners, themselves, said about the car…and not from the talking heads at CR or the car media.
At #2 is the Porsche 911, with the C8 coming in at #1.

The list....
10. Dodge Challenger - I know someone who owns one, but would not spend money on it, sorry.
9. Mazda MX-5 Miata - when the Miata first came out, it was easy to make fun of the car, and the owners. Guess what, still is.
8. Toyota RAV4 Prime - ok, a Toyota SUV. Call me vanilla, like lights out missionary style only.
7. Toyobaru BRZ86 - I can say I don't really know much about.
6. Polestar 2 - so far the most intriguing car on the list.
5. Hyundai Ioniq 5 - retro ugly anyone. Call Doug Quaid a Johnny Cab.
4. Ford Maverick Hybrid - this body design hit every ugly branch on the way down. If Ford had Michelin stars, it would lose one for this thing.
3. Rivian R1T - maybe it is great. but 2 things. it's more ugly than aesthetically pleasing (sorry the oval lights are a fail) and no real truck buyer wants a truck without a real bumper step, fail #2.
2. Porsche 911 - not familiar with this car. j/k!!
1. Chevrolet Corvette - while I don't have any personal real experience with the C8 and the model is a major upgrade, I'm a bit meh on the overly angular-ness of it, as well as the almost Ferrari-esque interior.
Give me a Polestar 2 and a 911.

Nevertheless, I do love my 992 more than the P2. Such an adrenaline rush every time I drive the 911. But in all honesty, the P2 (EV) has been a total blast to drive, and has changed my views about EV’s (this is my first). It’s an EV that doesn’t look like a EV, but more like a European ICE sedan.

My wife has a 2015 Macan S and tired of waiting for the delayed Macan EV of which allocations will be tough to find once it actually is released, I put a deposit down on a Cadillac Lyriq recently. Looking at being able to finalize options on a 2024 in June and get it sometime next year. Not a fan of the E-Tron and she wants an SU-EV so the Lyriq made more sense than the Polestar 2.
I strongly considered the Lyriq, but didn’t want to do a repeat of my Porsche experience, by having to wait a year to get the car.
The P2 (officially, a cross over…which is what I wanted) meets the needs of my wife and I…and our golden retriever easily fits in the hatch. It’s as big as our current SUV, a Lexus 350RX. But the P2 has 476HP, so it’s faster than most SUVs, and many sports sedans, like my M4.
The Polestar 3, a true SUV, has a projected delivery the 3Q of this year. Made in South Carolina. Starts around $80k, but has some pretty cool features. In a few years, that may be on my radar?
Don’t wish to divert the thread, but it was the (European) sedan style that attracted me to the brand:

That description is from the Jalopnik article. CR doesn't really describe the 911 much in the story. Their last 911 road test, which was positively glowing, was in 2015.

I've never been a huge fan of Corvettes, and have been even less of a fan since the C7...
