992.2 is all speculation right now, but it’s coming soon.
Excellent info. Thanks again very much.

What is the start model year for 992.1?

What advantages / disadvantages exist for the two generations? From my SUPER uniformed perspective, it seems better to me to get the 992.2 version.

The speculation, with varying amounts of evidence, is that the 992.2 will have revised fascias, revised taillights, center exhaust, hybrid powertrain, all digital instrument cluster, GPFs, new color options, and new wheel options.

If you Google Porsche 992.2 you'll find all sorts of info. My dealer said Porsche has not given them any release date. Speculation 992.2 will be out mid to end of 2024 as a 2025 model and we might see a hybrid version. Also Rumor Porsche will have a Safari option similar to Dakar suspension, see last two pics. Personally I'd be all over the Safari option.

What i hear (& experience) is true dealer demand lists have some payment ($1,000 -$5000) to enter that list and awaiting a build slot.

I’d assume people who get a car elsewhere will call to recoup their payment and off the true demand list.

Ummm, well but…. I’m coming up on a year on a 992 GTS demand list where i deposited $1,000 at a “no ADM” smaller dealer.. BUT in meantime i paid ADM for build spot at other dealer last AUG and got my specd 992 4GTS in December ….

…And still haven’t called for my $1,000 yet as i figure for now it’s cheap chip on the table for some for future allocation that lands without ADM

So you already have a car but you still feel the need to let Porsche keep your interest free loan?

Interesting times we're living in.

$1000 isn't much of a deposit for people who want to "play the field" on purchases like this, considering its a $150K+ car. You aren't going to clean up any of these waiting lists at $1000, its going to take $10K minimum.

@McNamara : LOL - yep but... Think differently - It's a $50*/yr option for a NO ADM build spot, for a 911 GTS , and that spot has already 'aged' one year - I call that a freaking wicked cheap option on a build spot for a 911GTS - and one that I'd say most here would take!

*$50 a year is the loss I incur on my fully callable at anytime $1000 'interest fee loan" to Porsche at 5%.

Yes.....quite interesting times as they begin to become more sane as economy slows for some......So happy the ADMS are reducing and going away in some cases........to help reset into the normality of buying a car.........which I have tried to accomplish the last 3-5 years......

Lots of new first time Porsche buyers working the system for their own best advantage to keep trading their chips in the game for other toys to drive......and its a business for some.........also a competitive gaming environment for others....fun to watch and hear about the stories.......like a spectator sport........

I am old fashioned like many others on this forum, who have had Porsches for a few decades, remember when dealers really valued repeat customers versus first time Porsche well heeled ADM buyers, and focus on building a continuing great relationship with several dealers that I buy from, i.e. no ADM ever required on Turbo S, GT3, GTS, C4S, etc......

In these limited allocation or delayed production times, I usually lead with I will put up a nominal refundable deposit down at MSRP pricing for no longer than 9 months depending on the car, lock in the price and if it rises, I walk - happened a few times.

I also ask for additional Porsche accessories for free with the purchases up front to close the deal with specific list documented - license frame, clear side markers, colored seat belts to be installed at dealer, Porsche apparel, Porsche air gauges/tools, weather floor/trunk mats, gas caps, etc...this justifies paying MSRP when I was used to getting 5% plus off MSRP and no paying full boat......

I do understand that some people are not patient and have to have the latest and greatest and have to scratch that itch......it just doesn't matter to them and thats okay.......each his own....

@abiazis Great advice and tips on buying... sounds like it hasn't landed since 2018 (based your comments "tried to accomplish the last 3-5 yrs" and your most recent once own is a 2018)? Time to lean in a scratch that itch ;-) I really dont see ADMs on G-series going away, maybe weaker than the highest peak... Love your collection, interesting what you kept and let go.

To note, in case 'first time" comment was pointed at me, I have been buying & driving only 911's since 1988 when I was 27 when I bought my first 1985 targa. That said the 911's have always been 3yrs old, low miles, small loan, and keep 10-15 yrs (like the 997 and cayanne i still have)

3 year used.... UNTIL this 2023 992 4 GTS - it is my first NEW NEW 911.

The reason I am staying in line on the no ADM list is because PORSCHE FOREPLAY is amazing! The deciding, understanding and choosing the options, and going thru and being teased on the build process timing, and watching 'her' sail the seas to port, and FINALLY THE DELIVERY was SO FREAKING FUN... I'd love to do it again!
Never understood why people build, buy and get delivery only to do it again - NOW I KNOW... PORSCHE FOREPLAY - you want it AGAIN and AGAIN 😉

That assumes you actually get an allocation.

Why would you assume that?

Yep - like I said 'buying an option' a very CHEAP option.. options dont always pay off... yet so my risk is a whopping $150 if I let it ride 3 years... and truth is i'm now even more interesting ($) to the dealer w a 2023 4 GTS to trade in ;-)
Btw - I already got a call from them for a black GTS that was built and in route a few months ago - but that isnt why I am at the table (I want to build again) and it is too early for me to even think about swapping.

New member today. Not sure if this is normal, when I ordered a 992T (currently stuck at Emden port). It was $1,000 to get on list, another $4,000 deposit when I got an allocation. As for ADM, my dealer priced MSRP but required I order a minimum of $10,000 in options (easy to do). I assume the minimum amount for options was the ADM. Is it normal to require a minimum dollar amount for options? Of the options, my dealer did require that I include in my order the heated steering wheel and the lane change assist. He said he would not order a car in my market (long Island, NY) without these two options.

Enjoyed your reply…..I wanted to let you know that I did not target any specific first time buyers, new to the game, just all of them. I did target people who pay ADMs for sure. Forums lend themselves to feedback on topics and no one is right or wrong, but good to express ourselves and share thoughts on these cars.

Presentky I am on one list and waiting for the call on a 992 TTS…and then I can spec and do the deal to my liking. If I don’t get a call in my timeframe set I’ll pass and reset.

Buying any new car is fun and luckily I have been blessed to have experienced it more than I ever thought.
