Just got offered a late summer delivery targa 4s at msrp+$7,500. I’ve been on their list for 18 months so he claims that’s better than friends and family adm right now. I think I’m jumping on it. Then I can swap my Roma order to a Roma spider which is likely a few years out still. Says paint to sample and European delivery both unavailable until next year.

I was offered a T allocation at 15k ADM this week for June delivery, I passed.

That seems pretty good for a Targa in the current environment

Yeah... he also knows that I option my cars to the gills so I'll be at ~$200k+adm in to a targa. So probably worth it to the dealer to give it to me at slightly less ADM vs somebody at higher ADM with a stripper spec. Here's the current build if anybody cares:
https://configurator.porsche.com/porsche-code/PRTGECA2

- he did confirm that as of right now he can order the heritage leather again

A dealer recently told me that it doesn’t matter to them how much options are added to the build. I didn’t believe them for a second, but also they have a point? Isn’t the profit margin higher?

My dealer said the same thing to me. I don’t necessarily believe them though. My SA said they make almost nothing on options.

Nice build. I’d suggest going with the Jet Black Metallic instead of the Standard Black. The latter gets damaged super easily and I’ve read and heard in reviews that the Jet Black Metallic handles the damage better.

It would defeat the purpose of giving incentive to the sales folks to try to sell the options. I’m sure Porsche keeps a handsome piece of the profit on options but dealer must get something out of it too.

LOL

Almost all of the honey is in the options.

Yeah, even at MSRP the dealer make a margin, but the margins in the options really determines how good the espresso and snacks are in the waiting area and lounge.

Yeah I know but I don't love JBM. I think it always looks like black with dust on it. Standard black is the only way for me to go if I'm biting the bullet and going black. Tried for the same build in Oak Green Metallic or Irish Green but no PTS if I want this slot. I had a 996 C4S in standard black so I know what I"m getting myself in to. I'll PPF the whole thing so it can get washed without swirl stress.

Super nice build, I am waiting for a new allocation for a new targa as well (I currently have my 2022 Targa 4S, so I am not in a hurry) - but I have been offered a few allocations recently (as a frequent buyer from my dealer) - at MSRP.. But I have declined the last couple due to stop order on PTS (I am going with Oak Green Metallic) and also heritage like you spec'd, which is also on stop order - both unknown when they will offered again.

PS. My current 2022 Targa 4S is Jet Black, I love it - and I do like that it is a little easier to take care of - but I went full PPF, so you will be fine with standard black.

Also - just a side note. I had my 2020 992 C4S (spec'd with Matrix Lights) - of course not activated in the US. So when I spec'd the 2022 Targa 4S - I just went for PDLS. There is no sign that it will be activated soon, so once you get an allocation - if it has not been officially activated, you might want to bump down to PDLS + from matrix and save a K or so. If activated, then you are good.

But overall really strong build - almost all the options I will be spec'ing (and currently have on my current targa) minus PTS and Heritage.

I really do think you can go wrong with a Targa. That seems like a reasonable ADM for that car. I like the build, but in my part of the world, front end lift would be a must have. Hat kind of delivery time are you looking at ?

Love the interior on the Targa. Makes my current GTS Cabrio build look like a stripper spec at 193k lol

Color is always subjective, but I am surprised how much I love my Jet Black Metallic. It has that little bit of sparkle. I would not have picked this by default but it was CPO and a small compromise that turned out better than I thought.

Targa was always my dream until I lost my hair.
