If you’re only going to drive it 3k miles per year, you’d be better off renting one whenever you want to drive a Porsche.

I’d say get it and drive it all the time. Porsches are extremely reliable.

I suppose the last listing is an anomaly. What’s crazy is that March/April 2022 people were paying $30k-$50k over MSRP on RL.

This is across the board on BaT, as I was just looking at 2020 720s Performance with 5k miles $353k MSRP couldn’t even sell for $100k off MSRP.
The buyer is also paying a $5,000 premium over $100,000. So each of those is about $10,000 above MSRP for a used GTS that the buyer didn’t build/spec.

Not to mention one year less of OEM warranty.

So, it's not exactly, "not complicated"

You sell a Raptor at $30k over? No problem, we’re not sending you any more Raptors. Its that simple. Ford rep strikes a deal with the dealer principal, and if the dealer doesn’t honor it, Ford turns off their allocations. Porsche dealers aren’t supposed to sell over MSRP on new cars either (but of course they do anyway). Thats why many get reported sold, then are now sold as preowned vehicles with 200 miles on the odometer for huge markups. They do this to avoid incurring the factory’s ire and threatening their allocations.
Amen brother, if Porsche wanted to get the stealers in line they can easily do it by cutting off GT and LE allocations. There's nothing that the stealers could do at that point other than do as they are told. The worst is when these stealers end up spec'ing their own allocations and throw it onto their showroom floor offered to the highest bidder.

Vaguely off topic, I devised somewhat alternative financing scheme. I bought P911 stock on XETRA exchange with the money I was going to put down on the car. Then when the vehicle arrives I will liquidate my P911 position and buy the car and finance the rest.

If the P911 stock appreciates then I will buy the car at a discount. If the P911 stock declines I will pay premium. What are the odds? As of today, I would be buying the 992T at 10.3% discount. Time will tell how my little hedge goes when the car arrives in May-23.

No issue with that. You are likely younger than me, when you get older and retire, you'll see your lifestyle changes. Two 50 mile trips a week for 9 months out of the year (no winters) is my usage pattern, I have other vehicles for routine activities like shopping, etc.

Given that usage pattern, what does the maintenance contract get me except oil changes for 3 years?

It is cheaper to just rent a GTS for 4 months a year in Ohio.

For what I paid in sales tax and normal depreciation, it’s not a terrible comparison.

Yea. But then you can't spend more money and mod it. Which is a lot of fun as well.
