Why is it for some folks the "art of the deal" is more important than the actual car? Nobody wants to pay more than they should, but if your only shot to get a 911 in the next year or so is to pay ADM, why stand on principle?
Why stand on principle? Because it matters to me more than anything. It's just the way I'm wired - and I'm not judging anyone who pays ADM. When we're all out driving our cars, no one can tell whether you paid ADM or not (and surely they don't care). While I refuse to pay it - and would go w/o the car I want if it came down to it (this is a want, after all, so in my case I need to be happy w/how I obtain it) - I think the only thing "wrong" here would be paying ADM and not being ok w/it yourself. Who cares what anyone else thinks - if you pay it, be ok with doing so.
Be cautious about the semantics of ADM. When I was researching dealerships in my area, the sales manager at a high-volume dealership told me that his dealership offers straight MSRP deals - - no ADMs. Approximately two weeks after my conversation with the sales manager, I talked with a fellow car club member about his experience at the sales manager's dealership. He was required to pay approximately $15,000 over MSRP for his new 911. The additional cost included wheel insurance, paint protection film, Ceramic Pro and other "options." So how does the sales manager reconcile his statement about straight MSRP but is selling cars with $15,000 of required "options" over MSRP? Apparently his interpretation of ADM is a markup on a Porsche model that provides no benefit other than the opportunity of purchasing the desired car. For example, if he were selling a 2023 Targa 4S that costs $165,000 for an additional $30,000 for the privilege of purchasing it, he would consider the $30,000 an ADM. However, if he added $30,000 worth of paint protection film, wheel protection, Ceramic Pro, etc at MSRP prices, he would claim that he is selling the car at straight MSRP. So, when you order your new car, be prepared to pay more than MSRP - - one way or another - - until Porsche sales return to more normal conditions, hopefully by next year.
My local dealer said they don't charge ADM, but they insisted on roughly $4k of mandatory add-on stuff such as wheel & tire insurance (worthless) and prepaid maintenance (at least you'd get something for your money there). When I told them that was basically ADM to me (at least the first item), they insisted it wasn't, stating that "it's a different line item!" Whatever. So I went to the next closest dealer (fortunately not much further away!) & got an allocation at MSRP w/no mandatory add-ons.

I had to buy something like this for my MSRP purchase of a Defender; $3K in stuff like fabric protection, lite ceramic coating, window tint and other things I could have done myself for much less money and probably better. So, I agree, this is basically ADM because you do not want any of it.

I always do full protection my cars so I wouldn't have a problem paying for it as part of a deal, if it was a fair price. One dealers price for ceramic/ppf was double what my guy charges... so yeah it was a no go.
As long as it is wheel and tire and service plan you should be able to cancel after you buy the car and get that refunded correct? It’s the ppf, ceramic that you are stuck with.

The guy I do PPF with does a lot of the dealership's cars, looking at his direct price versus what the dealership gets if I go through them it looks like the dealer is making $500 just for driving the car down the street to his shop and back. The BMW dealer would usually give me the PPF at their cost, you can forget that at my Porsche dealer. I ordered some parts from them and they charged me a $5 fee to pick it up myself!
I was chatting with my SA today about my future (hopefully) 4RS allocation. I buy a lot of cars from them. And as much as I dislike ADMs, he shared that a bonus 992 C2S Coupe and C4GTS Coupé are available...they're asking $10k ADM, which doesn't sound too too egregious, but I know that's subjective. He mentioned free shipping too. I know it's ironic I'm even mentioning this given my username, but at least they're nice specs and available now lol. If anyone wants to see the spec or wants his contact lmk!
the C2S i think is pending but the C4GTS is still available. maybe i should buy it

I have no idea if ADMs are dropping on 911's, but I was just at my local Porsche dealership and they have one 911 on the lot, and no available allocations coming until Q2 2023.

That's actually not bad in the current environment. It's better than being forced to buy PPF and ceramic coating performed by someone you would not let touch your car otherwise.
Quick data point - Rusnak Pasadena has $25k ADM on two GTS's - one is a cab the other a 4. No PTS, no ceramics and GTS interiors, pretty dull dealer spec items.
Porsche Mainline has a 911 C2S on their website, looks to be incoming.
While I didn't do a detailed analysis, it seems that when you use the Porsche finder via Porsche USA, there are more 2023 NEW cars available than I previously remember.
I didn't inquire on a particular one, so who knows if it's just bait for building a list.
