Yes. There are several versions of the MK808. There's: the original MK808, the upgraded chip and memory MK808S, the MK808BT which has Bluetooth functionality and which can partner with their Battery Tester and then last but not least the MK808TS which has Bluetooth capability and can do some work with the TPMS system sensors. For my money the MK808S is probably the best and most economical version.

What makes the 808S the best vs the 808BT ?
I would like to be able to use the scanner outside the car but it is not a dealbreaker.

Thanks again for always sharing your knowledge with us, Blue. If you know, what is the difference between the MK 808S and the MX 808 the Westsiderkg recently purchased? They are both about the same price.

The MK808S has a faster processor and considerably more on-board memory. Where this really shows up, for me, is the amount of time the tool takes to execute any commands (button pushes) and the time it takes for the tool to download and install any updates. Also, for some reason, the cost of both were the same when I bought mine. If the price difference had been significant, as a DIYer, I'd have been OK with the MK808.

Do you have to load any software or is it plug and play?
For me its impossible to over simplify !

Thank you for this. It says "function maybe needs online service" does it report to Carfax? Any idea why it would need to access the internet?

Also wondering if it will reset the collision mitigation systems. My wife drove through a construciton zone in her Honda and now there is a "problem" with the collision mitigation system. Second time this has happened so I don't want to keep paying the mechanic $200 to reset.

It will update all of its files, for all vehicles, for one year at no additional cost. (I'm sure that "cost" is baked into the purchase price of the tool.) If you have a wireless network it can log on to an AUTEL website and it can download the files for every vehicle you know and many you've probably never heard of. One advantage to the MK808S is that this download takes maybe a half an hour, where-as the MK808 takes more like 5 or 6 hours. In any case, once it's done any additional updates seem to take a few minutes at best. The only reason I downloaded every file that was available, is if I was to ever sell the tool, I figure it'd be best if it'd work on whatever car(s) the buyer has.

No, it doesn't report to CarFax. I don't believe it is logging into anything. The display says; "The function maybe needs online service, Please connect to the internet before performing online functions as possible." I think the key word here is "maybe". Some manufacturers vehicles may need, or be able to connect to a computer system that stores the vehicles service records. Perhaps even the service records of the dealer or independent service facility you patronize. If you do have your vehicle serviced at almost any authorized dealer of almost any car manufacturer that I know of, the manufacturer does keep your service records on file. This is so that no matter what dealer the car shows up at, that dealer will have access to the complete service history of the car, or at least the history at their authorized dealers.

I don't know about the "collision management" system capabilities that this tool might have access to on a Honda. The only ways to know, would be to contact AUTEL directly and/or to plug the tool into your Honda and see what it gives you access to.

Does this mean the unit doesn't come with any software loaded and must be loaded before you can use it?

It comes loaded with all the operating system software. Most of what you're downloading is the data that allows the operating software to talk to the cars. Since this data is constantly being updated by each manufacturer as they bring out new models and options, you really want any Scan Tool manufacturer to do things this way.
