Default Biggest repair bill you have gotten so far?

I was looking at getting Warranty from Fidelity along with tire and wheel protection. It got me thinking- "what are the biggest repair/service/usable cost that you have paid so far?"

You can include the accident repair too, if it was not a total write off?

A busted air condenser from a rock chip set me back $1970.

A tree branch fell on my retractable wing and broke the panel, scratched all three taillight components, a passenger window, and gashed my PPF. Total quote to return to stock and replace PPF was in the $10,000 range. I replaced the retractable wing with the aerokit wing I wanted in the first place, to the tune of $7,000 or so, and will replace the taillights and PPF eventually, once I order the parts and can stomach another week or two without the car. It was out of commission for about 3 weeks for the wing and getting new tires, so I'm just enjoying having it in the garage again for now.

That ended up being quite an expensive rock, and it wasn't even a shiny one!

$50, twice

put two new tires on the rears at first service (they had to be replaced immediately )

then a flat tire from some metal in late spring, another flat tire in summer

The tires stock warranty would have covered it but then I would have still had to have paid labor, so I saved a few dollars with the extra warranty (I dont know how many lol)

also had a windshield crack once, but in my state windshields are covered so that was free

Puzzling how a long block alone is $86k for a car that is MSRP $136k before options.

Nope. on me. They knew the car had a tune in the past, so it's pay to play. Quite literally. Under warranty it would not be this expensive, as far as I could understand.

I guess that was one of the more expensive tunes. Care to share some details what happened?

Did it happen because too much power? Or the damage was unrelated to tune

Once the whole thing is finalised, I'll write a thread on it. I dont want to hijack a valid question from the OP. Suffice to say that if there's a tune they WILL find out and they will not pay for it. In my case I was upfront the car was tuned in the past but depending on how the whole thing presents, they will dig deeper in order not to pay for the fix. The more expensive, the deeper they'll go. Magnusson act is a joke.

it's irrelevant what caused the damage. If there's a tune the argument always swings back "it was the tune". I'll probably never find out what actually caused the damage.
My conclusion is that you need to trust the manufacturer to build a sturdy engine more than the tuning. Statistically, I believe that a factory defect is more common than a tune issue, but the ball is not on my court.
