There's a 992 GT3 tune on the market now they claim +40 hp(bet you cant feel it) =$100k engine on you if needed.
I really don't think porsche left even that much on the table.
I doubt you're going to get even 40 hp from just a tune (with no other mods)on a motorsport NA engine, that's already putting out over 125hp per ltr .
The risk /reward ratio is way off !
Just don't get it plus great way to also kill resale.
Just think what porsche did to the RS engine,a new ECU,Cams and cylinder heads, all to get just a net gain of 16HP!!
40hp with just a tune a little hard to believe?

those tunes are probably for the people spending 200k ADM for GT3 Tourings if they were after driving performance theyd get a used 2RS

agreed risk/reward doesnt add up

All relative. Our dealer just tuned a brand new Turbo S (among other dealer installed mods) and it’s a true beast now - 800+whp supposedly.

Just because a dealer installed it, means nothing if a warranty claim is needed, such as on a long block.

Where did I say anything about warranty? I responded to the GT3 tune post.

Yeah, I’ve moved away from taking interest in tuning. I tuned my 992 and did fine, but then I only owned it for 3 months after the tune.

I don’t plan on tuning my new car, it’s already fast enough. Plus it’s naturally aspirated so, like the GT3, you’re hardly doing to squeeze much more power out of it for the money.

I think exhausts are the only major mods that are worth it for me.

@John Mclane

Sorry to hear about your troubles.

Did the tuner offer a warranty on their tune? If so, did they do anything about your blown engine?

Or did they make like cockroaches when the lights are turned on?

Not that a dealer would provide a warranty but at least they may be more willing to help you than 2 bros with a laptop.

Dragged the front tip on a C4 GTS aero car. Wasn't bad just pissed me off so I ordered the lower lip $800 plus paint and install $3500. Buy the front lift!

Wait, what - paint and install was $2700? Looks like a real bargain ...btw, one reason I did not paint that little lip as small scratches, rock chips etc are less visible and no cracking paint either when you scrape and it flexes a little. Happens more often than I like to admit (well, lowered and speed bumps are not my friends).

Really sorry this happened to you bud. I hope somehow it all works out and that you can put the nightmare behind you. Best of luck.

Thanks. Dealer took my car in trade minus cost to fix, the current market values helped offsetting the loss. But it sucks to be forced to trade cars out of time into something you would not go for. That's life, lessons learned.

You got ripped off, wow. I had the aerokit wing painted and installed, which includes painting and replacing the front lip as well as removing the retractable wing and installing the new wing, which requires some wiring modifications. Paint/install was $2500.

I had my first "Tune" done on a 1979 SAAB Turbo in 1982, just after it came out of warranty. it was one of the first turbocharged cars on the market (other than the 930) and a very nice driver. I took it to a well-known performance shop and he worked his magic. I got the car back and WHOA....HUGE....POWER. Lots and lots of fun, he really uncorked it. Four months later the engine blew up. I was 28 years old and stupid, I thought he would fix it since he did the mod. He said "sorry, not my fault" and that was it. Years later in 1996 I had my '95 BMW M3 "Tuned" at a place called "Autothority" and the car never ran right afterwards, in fact it slowed down. I removed that "tune" and had it set back to stock and then it ran better.

I no longer go for modifications. If I want a faster car, I sell the one I have and buy one that is factory engineered for more performance. I like warranties on expensive vehicles, too. I don't want to void them. Our cars are a balanced system, poured over by a team of engineers to make sure everything works in harmony. Mess with one aspect, another component somewhere is degraded. Maybe adding 100 hp does nothing to the engine, but overstresses the read sub-frame mounts, or some driveline component, that sort of thing. It's definitely Pay to Play, and when you do things to your vehicle, you have to suck it up when things go south.

My favorite is the tuners that say "Put this in your car, take it out before you go in for warranty work or service, they can never tell at the dealer". Yes - they can tell.

I am not one of these super rich people so every bit counts.

So far over 40,000 miles, I have paid for 2 x £700 oil changes and 3 sets of tyres at £900 a set, that is it- the car has been perfect.

Today, I took it on for an oil change (it is about to get cold in the UK) and was told the spark plugs were scheduled to be changed. Fine. It is running absolutely fine by the way.

With the car on the ramp, I was quoted an additional £1,550 for 6 plugs. That is £1,700 dollars for changing 6 spark plugs.

I told them no and politely left. Oil changed. The cost of plugs is about £80.

I was left thinking that some middle ranking profit chasing workshop manager was trying to earn as much bonus out of me as possible. I wonder what Porsche DE would have to say about it.

I do not have the book time for spark plug changing, however someone here might like to give an opinion at to whether charging $1,700 dollars for changing 6 plugs is fair?

I felt like cancelling my order for my new 911.
