If you had a straight choice I'd say go with a RWD car but you don't. Get what you can, you'll hate yourself otherwise every time you see any 992 pass you by.

GTS4... or, you'll get nothing and like it (not)!

1) The 4 will turn in and pull through a turn quicker/better/with more confidence. Flogging both around a skid pad demonstrates this best. Get thee to Porsche Experience Atlanta
2) As mentioned, a launch (wet or dry) is far, FAR better in the 4.
3) Spirited driving in the 4 won't result in the near-the-edge moments that the 2 will. For example, rounding a turn on an on-ramp and rolling the throttle on stiffly... the 4 will stay planted and scoot (with the front-end clawing to pull it around)... the 2 will start reminding you where the engine is.

Yes, and for some of us, that know it’s coming…that feeling is part of the excitement. At least it is for me. Until I got use to it, it was a bit unnerving..at first. But now, I look forward to it kicking out a bit, and have learned how to enjoy and manage it. Maybe one day I will get bit by the ear end kicking out a bit too much, but I think that;s all part of the learning process in driving a “proper” sports car. .

I think you will enjoy both.I personally favor AWD
having said , this is an easy problem to solve, have your dealer make some calls and I am sure they can switch this allocation to a 2GTS without much hassle. They can see the allocations in their system , and there is a person out there that accepted a 2 GTS but wanted a 4 GTS .

I drove a 2s and a 4s back to back on a track at the Porsche experience center. The only difference I noticed was the nose was a bit heavier on the 4S than the 2S. It was strange as I kept expecting a bit of understeer but it turned in beautifully with no push at all. That really made me appreciate the dynamics - it was like the car completely overcame physics to an extent.
I am a casual driver, no track experience but love spirited backroad driving. So take my opinion for what it is worth.
I would take the 4 GTS and not look
back at all.

The AWD system in the 992 is excellent and allows you to kick the rear out. Best of all worlds. I would totally go AWD again with another 992.
I put more than 35k miles on my C4S. The AWD is helpful in all weather conditions.
I have driven a variety of modern 911s. I think that the system Porsche fitted to the 992 is a nice step up from prior generations.
If you have a GTS 4 allocation, go for it.

I had this same choice back in Nov and declined. At the time, I rationalized to myself if I’m going to spend all that money again, I should really wait and get what I want. I’m sure owning my C2 for less than two years at the time influenced that rationalization. If I knew then that we’d be in this situation today, I would 100% take the GTS 4. Don’t pass it up.
