Well THIS is big news! That there is actual wires in there for $130. Now I have to go change my order, again.

@blastoff992 I have that option coming on mine as well so that's great to see! How many wires are in that harness? Looks like 4-6? Anyone mapped pins?
The lack of wireless CarPlay when using the OEM camera makes it a dealbreaker for me but I'll happily tap into that harness for an aftermarket camera.
Where is the harness in the rear?

If you checked the pre wire option and are getting charged $450 for install of a camera, you are being taken.
I feel like the question is pertinent to some people on here: Do you know how much a gallon of milk costs?
But what do I know. I just paid $2,200 for front and rear brakes and rotors and a fluid flush on a different car.
Maybe we just live in a world where the service industry has come to realize they can charge whatever they want and customers won't bat an eye.

I pick mine up tomorrow and will post update of what I find.
Someone in another post indicated there is no visible power connector by the mirror. I think access to the cable will require removing the overhead courtesy light panel.
For the cost of the feature I suggest you add it to your build.

@audi4t I am picking my 911 cab soon. I also selected the pre-wire for dashcam. Did you ever have it installed? If so, did you do it yourself or did you have Porsche install it? If the former, how hard/easy was it? If the latter, how much did it cost? Thank you!

I wouldn’t get too excited with the Porsche dashcam. I had it installed in my 2020 992 and to be honest while the resolution is ok the parking/radar feature is very limited. For a start my dealer didn’t turn it on when they installed it, when I start to investigate how to do so you actually need to go into the secret configuration settings and then in the app you can select no radar, 1 hour or permanent. The installation instructions recommend only setting 1 hour for 911s and then only if you have the lithium battery otherwise leave it off. I actually tried the permanent setting and it discharged my battery overnight, I do have the lithium battery and the 1 hour setting has worked ok.
But bear in mind that this only gives you 1 hour of radar from when the radar is activated and I found that as the camera activated almost immediately the car is turned off then as you get out and walk away, if you walk in front of the car the radar is activated and that one hour period commences.
So it pretty hard to recommend as a dashcam at the P price.

Is it a 3 pin connection like most Porsche cars from 991/ 981 generation? Like this item: https://dongar.tech/products/porsche-keyway1
As that sure does not look like a USB connection....

Hahaha very true- especially now that Porsche are a listed company so they are thinking of the shareholders before the buyers. I guess this means I still need to buy the custom made Dongar connection cable for $30 when they get around to making a 6 pin weird shape connection compatible with the 992. So back to square one in trying to fit a non-Porsche dashcam to the windscreen as all I want is a Garmin Mini 2 which is small and discreet and doesn't show GPS or my speed.
