So in theory, by checking this checkbox, this will save x amount of hours/dollars having the dealership run the wiring before it was an option?
I wish Porsche would be more transparent in letting us know what wiring is put in place, give us a wiring schematic/diagram, or at a minimum, let us know what our savings would be rather than having the dealership running the wiring themselves. To be honest, the instructions posted above for the Panamera isn't bad at all, but someone posted in another thread said their dealership charged them 7 hours worth of labor just for the front dashcam. To me, that is just highway robbery.

It’s cheaper to buy a mirror tap.
You have to buy the Porsche camera harness to get the male connector that fits in the prewiring female connector.
The advantage of using the prewiring circuit is it is separately fused and dedicated for a camera or radar detector.
The mirror tap piggybacks on the dimming mirror circuit.
Corvette owners have reported issues of fuses blowing when using mirror taps on the mirror dimming circuit.

I think you can do it - and it’s worth the minimal extra cost
once you’ve made your own mini harness it’s plug and play

To be honest when you buy the Porsche harness (about $40) and cut off the plug that you will use it is easier and safer using this than using the mirror tap.

For those who have some wiring experience and don't want to cut and splice wires, or pay $30 to Porsche to cut a harness, I found the connector based upon the cable set for camera. Comes with a brand new plug and pins, so I will take the connector and modify my blackvue harness so that install is clean. Will do full testing whenever I receive my car in mid May.

Thanks for sharing 💙💙💙
Don't forget the pre wire connector provides 12v power.
If your Blackvue camera operates at 5v you will need to install a 12v to 5v converter to supply the camera.

I'm having a Finevu GX1000 (2 channel 2K) installed in my car on Friday, was quoted approximately 5 hours for installation through a dashcam company.

The camera comes with a harness that is plug and play both to the camera and the car.
The Porsche tech just has to remove the overhead console and the covers around the mirror base. Mount the camera dock to the windshield, plug in the camera to the dock and connect the harness at both ends. The harness needs to be tucked away and the covers replaced. This should take no more the 2 hours.
The prewiring connector is already connected to the fuse box and energized so no work required at that end.
