Default It specifically says FRONT preparation

The US build spec is $130 for "Preparation for Porsche Dashcam (Front) Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur - Pre-wiring for Porsche Dashcam (front), which is available separately via Tequipment."

To me, one other benefit to the pre-wiring is that you don't have to start removing a whole bunch of parts just to run the wiring. The fewer parts to remove the better. Maybe it is just my luck but interior trim pieces removed and then installed never seem to go back correctly and there is always some gap or squeak that arises. I have the pre-wiring specified on my Targa 4S (now if I can just get an allocation - over one year waiting and counting).

Incorrect...it says front only for some of the other models, but for the 911, it clearly says front and rear:

When i get a chance I will remove the overhead courtesy light panel - I'm pretty confident the OEM dash cam wiring harness will appear behind this panel.
FYI, I just opened the overhead light assembly and the mirror housing on my ‘23 Cayman GTS to install a radar detector and did not find anything that resembles the prewire that’s on my config. I asked my SA and he checked with one of his techs. This is what he said:

I spoke with our Porsche Tech about the wiring for the dashcam. It appears according to the Tequipment instructions to be on the right side (direction of travel) running down the A-pillar.”

Here is a link to the discussion on the 718 forum with some pictures I took:

I have not disassembled the A-pillar yet.

One might guess the 911 and 718 might be similar, then maybe not.

I specced this option, but am having second thoughts. Fine print on the suncoast listing:

Suncoast Note: For cars with wireless Apple CarPlay, you lose wireless capability when using the Dash Cam. You will have to connect your phone via cable while using the Dash Cam.

I think its front only for Targas/Cabs and front/rear for the coupes.

Hopefully only if you are trying to download videos or otherwise control the Dashcam from your phone. The phone connects to the Dashcam using wifi, so you can't be on wireless CarPlay at the time. If this is a constant limitation then may as well just get an aftermarket Dashcam.

Service asking for 5 hours to install a dash cam on pre wired 911 Cab MY23’ which is well over $1,000. Doesn’t make sense!
Did anyone had it installed on prewired 911 MY23?

Just read this whole thread and I'm even more confused. Maybe the three prior glasses of old fashioned did not help in digesting what is going on.

I just got my 992,with dash cam preparation, I do not see any wires or connector anywhere. I guess you still have to remove the internal light console and the connector for the dash cam will be there behind it. If someone ventures there , take a pic for the rest of us.

Looks like I will need to uncheck that box then, as I was only after the added wiring to the rear view mirror area.

Wait, so the front & rear pre-wire we paid for is an extra fuse slot and not a pre-wire? This makes the power steering wheel adjustment fiasco look tame haha. What a joke.
