Default Just venting - ADM

I have put my deposit on 911 Carrera S cabriolet in Sept 2021. I se my budget for around $150k (would just buy it in cash). I signed a contract that would honor a MSRP so all good...was prepared to wait...and wait...and wait. In April my dealer told me I'm next one to receive allocation for Carrera S convertible..
I got a ring on Friday...
"We do not have a build allocation for Carrera S Cabriolet, but we have one for 4S (+15k over sticker price, GTS + 20k and GTS 4 for + 20k). I told them I have a signed contract for S Cabriolet for MSRP and they said they will honor it once they have S allocation..."
I'm sure they were selling a S allocation to someone else for +15k over sticker price.
Now with MY23 price increase and ADM we are in $180k territory.....before tax...it is not about money but I just feel I'll wait and wait and wait...I do believe now even if they would get an S allocation they would first try to sell it to the highest bidder...

Anyway...just venting. An I was thinking of ordering a Chayenne GTS Coupe with 911, but I feel like now I want just to wait and give my business to someone else.

btw...this it Porsche Bellevue, WA

Yep I think you are right. They have not received any S Cab's in 9 months? They are definitely giving anything that came in to those willing to pay ADM. Sorry but that's the market now

Are you a betting man?

If rate hikes continue past September, you should wait.

If they don’t continue past September, you might be a little angry with yourself.

Its just a car though, they’ll always make more.

yeah that is my current thinking. I can wait, but.... Market works in my favor. Will put cash somewhere else and wait. As I said, I'm just venting and I do realize current market situation. I just can't justify paying $200k for a GTS..Then I would rather look into Turbo, but that has its own ADM...

Not surprised. Porsche Bellevue has a captive audience with disposable income and little competition so they don’t care. I have bought my last 4 Porsche elsewhere because it’s been the same story long before supply chain issues. Just recently, they tried to undervalue my current car by $30k and could care less.

What dealership you went to? I might just pull the plug and go somewhere else and wait. It is true about the region..enough disposable income so they donn’t care. It is what it is.

You can not put a price tag on time and no one is guaranteed a tomorrow.

I can not tell some one how to spend their money but maybe you can get them to split the ADM.

I am sure you can plead your case with the GM and come up with an equitable situation

This. 👆
ADM is the negotiable part. Negotiate it.

I think that the “wait it out” stuff is nonsense. If you go back in the threads, you will find folks in 2021 who said that they were going to wait it out until 2022. Uh, How’d that work out? 🤣

The supply chain issues will be with us throughout the 2023 model year. Demand far outstrips supply, even with buyers that would back out if economic conditions deteriorate. With inflationary pressures, you can expect another big price bump for 2024 on top of the 992.2 premium.

Supply chain issues are not going to improve any time soon, which is the fundamental issue here.

In 2019, you could walk into a Porsche dealer and buy a C2S/C4S that day. Cabs were even easier, from what I recall. 5-8% discounts off MSRP were commonplace. GT cars were always harder to get, but not impossible at sticker for people walking in off the street. Turbo and Turbo S were easy to get and routinely sold with a discount.

That has been the market for Porsche over the years that I've owned one. I don't see it going back to that anytime soon. At this point, it's starting to feel like it never will.

Pardon my ignorance but I have a question. My dealer suggested I place a local demand order with my spec. Wouldn’t that increase the chance Porsche will build the car and guarantee I get it if built? Couldn’t the original poster do that?

A demand order is part of the process, but it is in no way a guarantee of an allocation whatsoever.

My dealer wanted a $15K allocation on my Targa GTS back in November when the first GTS allocations came out. I am pretty sure I was not first on their list. I went back and forth and got them to come down to $11.5K. If you had asked me 3 months prior to that if I would every pay over MSRP, I would have said NFW. But they were asking what the market was setting and I bit the bullet. Got my car in April. the increase in MSRP of over $7K on my same build makes the real cost of my ADM about $4.5K and I have been driving the car for 3 months instead of still sitting and waiting for an allocation without any idea when I would get the car. Since it easily costs over a grand a month to run this car, I have no regrets. Am I rationalizing? Quite possibly. But I am doing it convincingly.

Whenever I take the family to Disney World, which is never a vacation like you imagine it to be, by the end of day one, I wish there were a way to pay 3x the ticket price to lessen the crowds. Waiting 2 hours for a ride with toddlers is torture.

Been there, done that. That’s why we stopped going to Disney and went to LegoLand instead. Even got season passes. More mello, higher quality of customer. We all relaxed and had fun. I still miss those trips after 20 years.

Same. Did it years ago and ponied up a ridiculous fee to have a “guide” that allowed us to skip the lines. My wife hate the “elitist” aspect of that. Thankfully my kids are well past that age.
