Default Break In Period is Killing Me

Just pasted 1,000 miles in my first 6 weeks of ownership (was on a trip for 10 days) and following the break in rules until 2,000 miles is frustrating me to no end. Not trying to create another break in thread 😁.

I think you're good to punch it occasionally now. I waited the full 2k miles before I did a launch though.

Considering the 992 GT3's break-in being only like 950 miles, I think you're good to go.

I broke in a fully built motor in my Subaru STI in two days, no highways. I drove it up and down the length of the Delaware River from New Hope, PA to Port Jervis. I literally did it like laps. After the first day, we did an oil change at 500 miles and I continued. Proper aggressive break-in.

1000 miles in six weeks? 24 miles per day? You can do better than that in Arizona.
Heck, I did 900 miles in a single day in my 992C4S. (That was after break-in) It was not unusual for me to 200+ miles on a weekend day just adventuring.

Drive your car. Vary throttle and engine load. Have fun with it. Make a game out of it if you need to.

Home is where the heart is! Cruzin' & Bruzin' behind the wheel.

I hear ya, but I guess I enjoy beer and naps too much to spend that much time behind the wheel

If the necessary self-restraint is really killing you, then you can just choose to ignore the factory recommendation. Of course, that may be a short-sighted mistake, but it is your choice to make.

I was just planning my break-in. I’m going to get it done in less than two weeks, same basic idea that you described, have some fun routes planned out.

Break in's are bogus. No need to save it for the next guy. You have warranty, you're far and away good to floor it at this point.

Break-in's are for the next owner.

I hope that person gives you a nice thank-you note.

Just picked up my GT3 and dealer said break in period is 1,500 KMs @max 5,000 revs but no big deal to exceed this occasionally - just avoid hitting 8-9K revs.
