For me, this is a responsible thing to do, if you intend to enjoy many years of trouble-free motoring. The engineers at Porsche designed and built a masterpiece and gave us their recommendations written in the owners manual.

However, if you see new Porsche as a toy that you want to enjoy for few months, before you flip it to the next unsuspecting customer, one will come up with all sort of excuses why you don’t need to observe simple instructions.

I take the middle of the road approach-up to 500 miles not over 4K, at 750 increase to not over 5K and at 1000 miles no more break in.

We all do what makes us comfortable. Feelings and emotions are about as scientific as it gets with this topic. Just my opinion, no offense to anyone.

The older I get, and the more cars I own, the less I care.

in my case, I hope my unborn grandkids will one day ask why I’m still driving that old 2023 Porsche.

Edit: I would love to see if there is a correlation between people who ignore the break in period and if they lease the cars. If I leased my 911, I wouldn’t care about about a break in, nor life after 36 months. Since I bought the car and intend to keep it for decades, I’m playing the long game.

Except... the argument is, that if you DON'T follow the break-in, your car might actually last longer.

i haven’t seen anything from Porsche that would support that. This thread has plenty of references to conversations but if someone has a webpage or a copy of the owners manual indicating we can blast past 4000 rpm’s before the first 1000 miles, I’ll be happy to follow that official source.
