Default First time in a new 911...

I'm interested in how many of you had never driven the car prior to being handed the keys at the dealership. I'm probably going to end up doing this and was curious if any others had no idea what you were getting, prior to starting it up and pulling out of the lot....

Opposite here: I’ve driven several times at a Porsche Experience Center which pretty much confirmed my lust. GTS build locks in a couple of weeks now.

I test drove a few times before buying one.

Interestingly, I test drove a 4S before buying the 2S

Never driven a 911 before delivery. I had a 944 back in the 80's. I purchased a used 981 Boxster S back in march and it was all I needed to inform my decision to get a 911.

Test drove several (2 992S and 718S) Porsche’s, back when dealers had some on their lots. Very seductive cars. Waited 10 months to get my 992S. IMO, worth the wait.

I've never even sat in a 911, let alone driven one. I'm most curious to see the amount of frunk space, haha. My car is currently sitting at the Rhode Island port waiting for transport to the dealer, so I guess I'll sit in one (and drive one) soon enough!

I've only looked inside the window of one and i'm 60 days away. These guys are going to think i am idiot trying to figure out how to get the thing out of the sales floor. In all seriousness though, i think it will make the experience really cool to have never experienced the car before heading home, on open roads...

I did this......received my delivery this past Sat - a few weeks early too! only had ever test drove a macan before -then got a benz.

Have had BMW/MB/Lexus/Audi - decided to take a chance and just get it. ordered the base 992 C2S in July, was expecting it in mid December.

It's awesome....i cant imagine you would need more power/speed than the base model. You can always tune it which is nice with a $800 to $2500 software package. Im coming from AMG so that had power and great sound.

Had never driven (or even sat in) a 911 but owned a 718 Cayman for 2 years. Cayman was really nice - had little doubt the 911 would exceed my expectations.

I drove a 992 for the first time , aC2S Cab at PECATL, the day my C4S Cab finished production. Couldn't keep the smile off my face for the next few days. Car is sitting in Baltimore expected later this week at the local dealer. Now if the Winter Wheel set would only arrive, prior to delivery. Ordered that on the same day while at PECATL - 32 days and counting.

Put a deposit down before driving one (no 911’s at dealer) but right after I got an allocation I was able to sit in all 3 types of seats (2 cars for delivery and one they where selling). The dealer also had both base and S CPO’s that I test drove. So it worked out.

I was able to test drive a 2015 Carrera GTS PDK, that was and is the only 911 I've even driven.

The Boxster is the best grocery getter ever, especially for curbside delivery. The 911 is good too as long as your are not buying for too many people.

Test drove a 991.2 GTS Cab the day I put my deposit down for a 992 Targa GTS. But I went there to talk the to SA and leave a deposit with no expectation that they had a car for me to drive.
