Default PCM 6.0 Good News Bad News

Finally finished (almost) setting up 2022 brought home Saturday.

the bad; it is not anymore intuitive than previous version and has less customization options.
Don’t try to set up anything with the “quick start guide” it’s for previous PCM not 6.0.
Acces to Homelink isn’t any better and still requires several steps to open close screen even with shortcut.
Took me about it attempts to get Apple Play working.

The good: after years of not being able to scroll through your favorite stations list, it’s finally here. Previously the next track button on the steering wheel left side would play the next numerical station but now it scrolls just through your favorites list.

setting up Garage doors to homelink is easier.

I'm curious, did you notice that the speedometer now has a complete needle that extends to the center of the (digital) gauge?

Sounds similar to my experience with the Taycan PCM. Aside from a longer boot time and Android Auto support, I don’t think that I am missing out on anything with my 2020.

Other than being able to scroll through my favorites via steering wheel button I would say your 2020 is more powerful but as often is the case there might be more hidden functionality yet to be discovered.

Will older software versions on the 992 get automatically updated to v6.0? Or is that something that has to be done at the dealership? Thx

Nevermind…just read on an older Rennlist thread that the hardware is different, so no updates for previous versions.

How different are options like disable Start-Stop, lift rear spolier and open exhaust on this new PCM?

Am I right in understanding with 6.0 you loose the tiled home page? That’s a great feature, i.e. having not just access but information there that can be customized etc.

I was able to setup my MY22 homelink on the steering wheel diamond button. With just a single press of that diamond button mine works exactly like a dedicated homelink button. Opens and closes the garage door with zero delay. I have no interface with the PCM using this method.

Something to note in using it. If you attempt to push the button and hold it like a standard homelink button, it will send multiple open and close signals which is not what you want. One single press and release and the garage door should operate.

Must be in improvement in the 6.0 on the 2022. I also have (on my 2021) Homelink on my diamond but that just brings up Homelink on the PCM, where I have to select among my two programmed garage doors.

What do you do if you have multiple doors programmed?

Yes and also has a great new dash option which I simply love.

Really all still there just looks different but in my opinion no easier to access. Stop/start for me was always much easier to push the sport button, a one step process, rather than going to my screen then pushing the widget/tile. Still the same on 6.0

You definitely lose the customizable widgets but the home screen is somewhat easier to navigate. I feel Lost that one fully personalized go to screen to contained all the widgets/access to what I used daily.

The problem i think is if you have multiple garage doors then the shortcut button will only bring up the Homelink screen where you can select which door to open. At least that's my understanding so far but you've inspired me to go and see whether the Homelink tile on the screen still brings up the main Homellink screen but I can select the shortcut only for my main door.

I will try deleting one programmed door to see if one push of the diamond will get the other door to go up, rather than bringing up the PCM screen. It wouldn't be a problem if the GPS worked more than 20% if the time.
