That's part of the second thread that you're involved in.

Try and keep up, ok?

I thought it was pretty self explanatory.

If a car doesn’t excite me then I don’t want it.

This isn’t a washing machine we’re taking about here. When I really get into a car, I want it NOW. I don’t want to wait.

Age doesn’t really have anything to do with it. I have two Porsches now and I’m still super excited and impatient to get my TTS.

Again, I think you ducked the question.

As I wrote. I don't really understand your thinking.

There have been scientific studies on this. I am apparently one type of person and you are another.

Lol…Not sure how this applies to me - being that I spent 10 years in medical training after college before I started making money, never mind the 1 year I’ve spent waiting on my TTS, but whatev.

The last year has taught me that life is too short. Sometimes waiting is unavoidable (e.g. my TTS order), but if I can get what I want now - I go for it.

One of our good friends is a senior manager in supply / procurement at one of the ‘main’ manufacturers, has worked there for many years. She’s adamant these supply chain issues will get worse before they get better, and will go on for some time. Toss in what looks like a sustained period of inflation and general price increases across the board for luxury goods the only sensible conclusion is that these ADM’s won’t go away anytime soon. If anything they’ll get baked onto market pricing and more than likely reflect the MSRP’s 1-2 years down the track, if not before.

Makes sense to me. My gut feeling is that this the new normal - at least for a few years. Porsche didn’t raise the price all that much for 2022. That may not be the case in 2023.

Just saw a patient of mine who is an SA at an MB dealership. States that there are NO signs of things reverting back to pre-covid with lot cars and price negotiations. Dealers making more money now, no more risk for dealers to keep inventory, everyone expects to pay msrp, SA already knows what his commission will be and can sell less cars to meet quota. As long as there is demand for luxury goods and until there is an over-correction of supply parts (which will take at least until 2023) this is the new norm. Has been reiterated in numerous threads, numerous forums.

If you wake up every morning (like I do) and read forums because cars excite you, don't wait. Life is too short and agree you could die tomorrow. If you have the means to get what you want, I don't understand the rationale for waiting based on feeling ripped off because someone else on this forum in another part of the country got a better deal than you (or shop around).

If budget is a major concern, dont pay the ADM. If you have the money and want the car, pay the ADM.

There's a very strong possibility that a year from now, you'll still be on line for an allocation with no idea when you'll get it. The ADM's may be even higher. Then you'll probably look back and wish you had just paid the 10% markup when you had the chance.

I am not sure about Porsche , but I have seen other manufacturers do price adjustment mid year like January and not necessarily follow model year

In another segment check out Louis Vuitton price increases over the last couple of years. A bag we bought for our daughter Christmas 2019 is now 30% more, they do regular increases in the order of 5%+. If anyone knows how to market and position luxury goods it’s LVMH.

Global money supply has increased 40% I believe since March 2020? So many people have more cash than they know what to do with right now. A Porsche is a luxury item and a car...2 things in super high demand for the foreseeable future. That combined with dealerships absolutely loving the margins they are getting makes me think this will be the new norm for the 992's lifespan. I hope I'm wrong but we are 19 months into this pandemic in North America...I am starting to think we are in the new norm with these types of items.

Perhaps related - but in my typically conservative home area - I've seen a marked increase in exotic cars out and about over the summer - many more than I have in the past 30 years here.
