Sure thing. The S gets the larger turbos (just detuned), slightly larger brakes and the LSD, so there are some nice features in that trim for sure. I was pretty impressed with the base 992 on track all stock, it's a great platform, I honestly don't think one can go wrong whatever suits their needs!

 

I'm just waiting patiently for the Carrera T so we can all have LSD and manual fun on a baby-turbo motor that's super responsive!

finally got around to installing new plugs gapped at .022.

old plugs had 3700 miles and look pretty good. Been running stock for a bit, looking forward to loading the stg 2 map again.

Job was easier than I thought it would be. #4 was hardest due to tight access.

 

Considering tackling this myself. Would have been great if you'd done a diy for us. Got any advice for those of us on the fence?? I have done plugs on 987/997/991, but know the tubos are in the way here.

 

high level steps.
1. Jack the car safely.
2. remove rear fender liner ( 4-5 torx heads and 1 10mm)
3. Remove black turbo inlet pipe to gain access to plugs.
4. You can (although not required) remove torx screws to heat shield covering the coil packs and lower out if the way.( driver side access is easier, I didn’t bother on passenger side)
5. Remove coil one at a time with t30 and replace plugs
6. Repeat same for passenger side.

For passenger side #4 plug you will need a real shallow t30 to break the coil loose. I found a mini ratchet at auto zone that worked then used fingers rest of way.
have a variety of extensions to give you angle you need to extract the plug smoothly.

Took me about 2 hours and that was being cautious and deliberately slow.

My car has soul sports cat and is eligible for a stage 2 tune.

Is stage 1 safer than stage 2 or the difference is negligible because the difference is only 30 to 40hp?

My main goal for the tune is to open up my PSE and get the most sound I can get from my PSE+Sports cat combo. Of course, adding speed is great but keeping my car safe is a higher priority than speed.

 

I recall someone getting the tune and asking M to make the power curve more linear. This takes some HP out of the tune and reportedly created more of an N/A feel. You could do that in conjunction with running the 91 octane version, giving you way more power than you need and also reducing stress on your engine, turbos and trans. Just a thought.

 

These cars are significantly overbuilt, and even on a Stage 4 setup can hold the power just fine. Stage 1 vs Stage 2 is only around a 20ish whp difference or so depending on your gas and other mods. It's totally fine to run Stage 2.

That was me. Never heard back if that was a viable thing they could tune. I never got the tune, just wondered if they could do something like that.

Just ordered your tune. Also just installed jcr sport cats. It did trip my check engine light. I cleared it but I’m sure it’s coming back. Is there any issue with driving it with the light on until I get your tune installed?
