992 GTS Review?
#106
I read the same thing in The Drive article posted up there 👆🏼 somewhere. New rear muffler with larger cross pipes. Kind of interesting that they went to the trouble. Looking forward to hearing one above 5000 rpm.
Someone mentioned that the suspension was identical to the C2S with Sport PASM. Are the helper springs on the dampers not new ? I thought that was a GT3 thing. But may be mixing up pieces of cars, again.

Also, another glowing review here: https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/review...coupe-preview/

I watched all of the reviews (including the RBR review, which just dropped) a couple of times.
Here is my biggest takeaway from the reviews is the cars with the Lightweight Package sounded AMAZING! The "Standard" cars without the Lightweight Package, not as much. The Lightweight Package ones sounded really raw, there was a lot of exhaust and engine noise coming into the cabin. That removed insulation seems to make a huge difference in that regard. You really hear it in the RBR review.
My context is from driving the Cayman GTS 4.0 Manual for the past six months (10,000 miles of spirited driving in those six months), which I also find to be very raw in a great way, like the Lightweight Package 992 GTS does in the reviews.
The challenge is that I would want the 18-Ways over the Carbon Buckets, not a combination available with the reduction in insulation and Rear Seat Delete part of the Lightweight Package. A real dilemma!

Wow, thank you for the heads-up! I hadn't been in the configurator for a couple of months, back then it was only with the Carbon Buckets. They must have added it. I lived in the configurator for a few weeks, put in my deposit with a spec, and haven't been back since.
Crap, now I don't have any excuses for not getting one!
Per my signature, I also have a deposit in to get a second replacement Cayman GTS 4.0 with the exact spec I wanted, the one I have is fantastic, but I didn't spec it and would want a slightly different spec.
Now I have a difficult decision to make...

Yeah, given that my bank account doesn't work that way, and my VIP status, or "lack thereof", are not enough to get a GT3/Touring, I'm starting to look at a GTS, sans rear seats, w/buckets as an alternative.

I'm out. Can't get the black stone protection film for rear fenders "in conjunction with" the lightweight package.

Apparently Porsche agrees, they added that option after the launch. Astute of them to know they can grab more cash from guys like me who want that personalized experience.

Is it me or does just about every review (other than RBR) use the term "sweet spot" at least 3-4 times? I wonder if that is something from the Porsche marketing package and they all want to stay in the good graces.

“The sweet spot” is used in every review of every generation of 911 GTS ever made.
The honest truth is that all these cars are very, very similar. Even a Turbo S is very similar to a Carrera S. Yes there are differences, obviously, but they aren’t as dramatic or earth shattering as reviewers would have you believe.

Auto journalism is lazy. They rely on these tropes to generate reviews. It’s utterly predictable.
