What's the point of that?

If ceramics were $1000 or $2000, I could rationalize buying them, but at $9000, the value equation just doesn't work for me.
My 993 has mesh BBS wheels that I had ceramic coated. No doubt that it helps clean up, but it’s still a decent bit of work to really get them clean. Not the same.

Everyone’s idea of “too much” money to spend on options or time/effort to spend in cleaning is highly variable, of course.

Seems like after reading this entire thread, the value of PCCBs can be summarized as follows:

Cons: Cost

Pros: Everything else.

Same here. Ceramic coating for my wheels too. One wash and they shine like they are new

Except that I don’t drive a Prius

And by your logic, you might as well click every single box when spec’ing your car, because none of it is ever a waste of money

Once again, none of the arguments here convince me that PCCB is worth the money, but hey it’s your money so enjoy!

lol...Rennlist lesson FINALLY learned. Never wade into a discussion about an option that makes no sense for my use case (and perhaps other people with similar use cases), even if a poster asks for opinions. Rennlisters will defend their decisions to go with said option with the intensity of a mother grizzly protecting her cubs. To all Rennlisters who have and love PCCBs, enjoy them and your car in good health.

Take out the significant reduction in unsprung weight, the bite of the brakes and overall performance, the looks....is $9k worth it to never wash your wheels?

People ridicule this a lot on here....but it is. My time is worth the money. Avoiding busted knuckles and the aggravation of spending 30+ minutes cleaning wheels is worth $9k over the life of the car. Never having to see nasty, dusted up wheels within 1-2 car drives is worth it.

So really - it depends on how you value your time and how much you value a clean looking car. When you add in the looks and performance on top of that -- for many of us, PCCBs make perfect sense and are well worth the money.
It takes me 29 seconds per wheel (yes I timed it) to wash my RS wheels. At two full minutes per wash, I don’t want to even think about the cost per hour to have ceramics.

ha! You forgot about the cost of the brake job . So not just initial cost.

Thats because you drive like a grandpa. You know, since you’re so focused on keeping your car so shiny and ‘impeccable’

My OCD about my intake and exhaust valves causes me to do the "Italian Tune-Up" method of driving far too often... acceleration, ***** to the wall at least once per-drive! 😂

Rule No. 2 for message boards with car enthusiasts.

Never tell another person how to drive their own car.
