Anyone swap their lame flat US-spec sideview mirrors for Aspheric concave Euro-style mirrors? Interesting article in Road and Track and agree, US customers are getting screwed out of better mirrors. Thoughts? Suncoast sells Aspheric mirrors for the 992 but they seem pricey relative to what you get (anywhere from $145 per side base mirror to $375 per side if you are like me and have lane change assist and dimming mirrors) plus install(?) Is this something the dealer should really do, or is this something a person with moderate mechanical ability can easily handle?

Thanks for the info, I didn't realise we didn't get the real deal on these. I'm the same as you, LCA and dimming, Suncoast say $230. Am I missing something?
For that much though I'm tempted just to pay the money and see what arrives. Mirrors are normally pretty easy to swap out.
If it's a simple unit swap out (meaning no other electrical connections needed), all it takes is care in removing it from its current clasp (and of course not dropping it in the process), disconnecting and reconnecting and GENTLY pushing in a uniform manner the mirror back into place. Having done a few take outs (replacing the puddle lights for LEDs on my Touareg which should be the same approach) I always place sheets and rubber mats below in case I drop it inadvertently.

I had no idea. This will be my second mod, after clear side markers.
Actually the question is: Does it do the job? If the answer is yes, then up to everyone whether the "Porsche" look is worth 2 or 300 extra bucks. At some point...
I can't believe how you Americans put up with those stupid mirrors. I was astounded at the difference between aspherical ECE and flat US DOT mirrors (on the same car); there's just a lot less visibility. No wonder I see loads of people dangerously turning their head over the shoulder when changing lanes in the US, or just blindly depending on the blind-spot monitors and LCA - neither of which are necessary, obviously, but still...
