I'm in Canada... put a deposit down for a 2022 allocation. Was told October delivery.

I was told it's possible my allocation would end up being a 2021 at which point they would just push it out.

This has been the quirkiest allocations process I've done so far. I'll say that much. A wrinkle in it is the way they've changed PTS. Supposedly no more delays after the fact, but you have to lock super early in order to get it. Which means that you need to get the allocation pretty much right when it drops and hope for no delays in the dealer getting it, or you miss the deadline. In my case, the '22 July car was not configurable yet and the PTS lock is March 15th, so they're sliding it to an August slot in order to fit within the PTS deadline for that month (April 19th).
I just heard the same thing...end of March is when the configurator changes for MY 2022. Which might include pricing changes (ugh) and possibly options//feature offerings (I heard this is unlikely though.)

Pretty sure we'll be seeing some changes. For instance, I saw they had added options for further customization of the vehicle key painted/leather pouch and owners manual cover, but was removed shortly after. Looking forward to see what else they add.

I've been #2 at my dealer waiting for about 2 months now... something tells me higher profile clients are skipping to the front of the line, but maybe these allocations are that rare. I'm in no rush right now because I think the GTS announcement could be close and I'm really curious what a targa GTS will bring... Hopefully with the -10mm suspension which I feel like this car needs.

My dealer gave me a slot. June production for a C4S Manual Coupe. Would this likely be a ‘21?

If you have the Comm # I can check for you. DM it to me if you like.

Mind if I ask how long you've been waiting for an allocation?

If both 21 and 22 allocations are available, which should I take? Delivery date is prob one month difference.

If a dealer uses my current build code and later it turns out to be MY22, do I need to pay the price increase if any?

decide and agree with the dealer when you commit.

For me, the anxiety of potentially not driving the car due to regulatory delays would pale to my remorse of choosing a '21 if the '22s come out with refinements & engineering improvements.

I've an allocation for a 2021 C2 with a June delivery date and have been given the option to take a later allocation because of a stop sale on the option for the noise cancelling glass.
Passed on that option and kept the June delivery because I want to be able to drive the car this summer and I'm also concerned about the 2022's getting the particulate filters.
There's also the potential added delay, as we saw last year, because of CARB taking months to let the new model year cars out of the ports which could push delivery out to the 4th quarter of 2021.
Choosing the 2022 model over the 2021 isn't compelling enough given all that. Now if Porsche was to offer the option of a manual transmission, PTV+ or the C2S brakes that would be another story
but since Porsche can't make enough cars to keep up with demand as they're currently configured this gives Porsche little or no incentive to change their recipe.
I expect small changes for the 2022's with perhaps the extra range gas tank included as standard along with a couple of other benny's to offset the price increase.
