Default Dead Battery Frunk - Help!

Have a 2021 C4S with a dead lithium battery -- car has been sitting 6 weeks without a trickle charger. Clearly, I won't let that happen again.

Got into the car with the maintenance key but for the life of me can't get the frunk open using the power port in the fuse box. I have tried connecting the Porsche Lithium Charger, a 100W 12V power inverter, and jumper cables directly from another running car. Nothing. Do I need to leave something connected to the port for more than 2-3 minutes to release the frunk? I assume I'm not charging the battery (the lithium battery has probably disabled itself) but just powering the circuit that releases the lock, right? If so, I'd think it would be able to unlock immediately when I connect jumper cables.

I've read a number of similar posts on this topic but it generally seems like the frunk opening is straightforward. What am I missing?

SO ANNOYING that you need power to get to the battery when it is dead--silly design.

Connect a charge pack or jumper cable to the internal connector in the driver side fuse box in the footwell and hit the frunk button on the key.

I did that and it did not work..that's why I'm posting. I tried to detail what I did in the original message.

A battery connected to the positive connection in the driver's footwell fuse panel should work. Are you using the key fob when you try to open the frunk??
If that's not working I would call Porsche roadside assistance.

I did not use the key fob---I used the regular release button inside the car. Does that make a difference?

And I said use the frunk button on the key. It’s an important detail. The button on the key has power. The button in the center console does not.

Just tried again...same thing. Neither the button in the car or the FOB work.

I do hear a click inside when the power is connected but nothing else.

Call roadside, it's included in the price of the car. They'll be able to jump start it, according to the warranty manual.
I would ask how much, just because I have trust issues.

Leave the power connected to fuse box for an hour and then try again

What about: 1.) Hooking your Porsche Lithium Charger to the Power Port (Cigarette Lighter style) in the Passenger Footwell, 2.) Turning the Ignition Key to the "Run" position, and 3.) Waiting an hour or so to get some marginal charge on the battery.

-OR-

It is possible to access the Hood Release mechanism from underneath the car. It's not easy, but it can be done.

Does the 992 still have the secret frunk release cable inside the front left wheel well?

The latest GT4 does but doesn’t help if the security wheel socket tucked away in the frunk

Did you just click the fob button or hold it several seconds. You must hold the fob button down, not a short click.

If you have one, connect the battery conditioner to the power outlet in the footwell and make sure its actually charging. If it is, give it an hour before trying to start the car. Note- a conditioner is not a "hot start" device.

I did this when my 8 yr old battery died and it got the car working so I could take it it get a new battery.

Thanks for the help folks...roadside assistance came last night and could not get it open. Guy from RA said he had performed this task "dozens of times" and that it usually opens right up with the FOB. Also suggested you don't normally need to connect it for more than a few seconds -- it is not charging the battery just temporarily powering the circuit that opens the frunk. Unlike some of these folks, he seemed pretty good. Will call the dealer tomorrow.
