Anyone regret not getting PSE??
I found a car on a dealer lot with a great build that I can get immediately...but no Porsche Sports Exhaust. I really want PSE. Has anyone had the dealer add it? And for those without PSE, does not having it matter that much?

It is not the best exhaust in the world, but does provide a nicer, deeper sound versus the standard and I prefer to stay stock so aftermarket isn’t a consideration. If that is not something important to you, then it may not be a big deal, but I value a sound more reflective of my vision for a sports car and optioned accordingly.
re: the dealer adding, it’s usually quite a bit more than optioning from the factory and will not be reflected on the original build (if that’s something that matters to you).

It's not over-the-top-expensive to buy from Suncoast (or your dealer). https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/SKU992PSE.html
I'd estimate around $1000 to $1500 to install and program, but that' just a SWAG.

PSE is weak, I have it on my 992 S and I'm like.....meh, no biggie. The aftermarket exhaust systems are way better (had a Tubi on my 991S) . Get the car as it is, then you can fit a Akro on it and watch all the 992 owners with PSE say after they hear it "Wow, I wish my car sounded like that!"

I didn’t spec it and don’t miss it, though it’s hard for me to miss something I’ve never had. I also really prefer the quad pipe look and opted for that option on my base 992. I generally play the music fairly loud most of the time so not sure how that would affect the sound of PSE. I don’t have any regrets, but I also don’t think you settle. Good luck!

I have had it on previous 911s and have always added this option. I have it on the 992, but must admit it’s mainly as I prefer the look of this to the standard quad pipes.
main question is, can you live with the look of the quad pipes? If so then your not really missing something if it’s the dream car. If your on the fence, then don’t buy it, you will regret it later.

I did spec it. I do like having it but in truth had I not had it it would not have been a biggie and I love sound. Part of the reason I spec'd it was that I did not like the C2 exhaust appearance and so I would have had to pay $900 to upgrade to quads and so going PSE was only 2K more. Ironically even though I like the S quads had I ordered an S I almost certainly would have spec'd PSE just to make the package complete (not saying it is logical). I would absolutely buy any 911 wihout PSE but I would think twice about one without SC

All the PSE button does on the dash is open those valves below that specified RPM so you can make the exhaust louder while at low speeds. Almost all the aftermarket pipes have their own remote to do this if you want to activate it.

No, it does not. Porsche Sport Exhaust has the actuator valves and so do all the proper aftermarket exhausts. These valves which maker it louder open automatically at a certain RPM (it was 3,800 rpm in a 991, I don't know on the 992 as mine is so new).

IMO those Carrera tips work with the rear design best!
The standard exhaust is plenty loud, also valved now and provides a second or so of backfires on decel in sport mode.
PSE is a complete rip for what you're actually getting but the sound is deeper and backfires almost continuous in sport mode but also a little droney at highway speeds if you leave it on...

When I spec'd my C2 I didn't pay close enough attention to the exhaust tips. Had I added PSE I would have had the oval tips instead of the rectangular ones. That said, what I really would have preferred is the dual tips. Had I payed more attention I would have spec'd both PSE and the dual exhaust tips. That's what I would do next time around. As for the sound, at low revs PSE makes more noise for sure. At higher revs, my C2 is plenty loud.
Anyway, I have the PSE only because there wasn't a 911 in my area without it to test drive. My recommendation is to take one with PSE and one without on a test drive and make a call. As mentioned above, adding an after market solution is always a possibility. Good luck.

Having had it and not on different 911s not much difference to me. I opted not to get pse on my incoming 992 for two reasons.
1. I dislike artificial exhaust noises. Porsche system is both mechanical and software induced. The system injects fuel into the exhaust stream to create those pops and bangs...it’s artificial.
2. all to often I felt embarrassed by those noises in certain environments.
p.s. In sport + porsche turns all that off so the engine can perform at its best, it’s not real.

PSE = Oval Tips
If someone ordered PSE with Duals - please chime in and tell us how you did it.
