Yeah, for someone who already has a GTS it probably isn't worth it. But man, if I was in the market for a 992, this would be the goldilocks model.

It sounds like a Carrera S with PSE.

Nah, it has way less sound-proofing.

Yep, the GTS has always been a parts bin special. Can't say I get the 'reduced noise insulation' bit though, if anything the Turbo sound deadening package would be attractive to me but instead we get more road noise? Oh well.

Option to spec Turbo PCCBs is an interesting development. They put in Turbo helper springs, which is a random choice. Short shifter sounds nice.

$138k for PSE, SPASM and PSE + 30HP is not a bad deal. A C2S with PSE/SPASM/PSE is ~$134k and doesn't have the aesthetic touches or extra grunt.

As always - the GTS is a good value options package on the C2S -- a nice option if you can get one, but not something I'd trade a C2S in to get. And of course, the inevitable ADM would negate that advantage anyway.
yep and you add sport design package, steering wheel, sport + seats as standard+ the other stuff they are throwing in it is a really good deal. Can’t wait to play with the config.

When does the config become available? And the release date?

I don’t think it sounds like a current U.S. 992 Carrera S in the video. The current one sounds good. That GTS doesn’t. If it comes with the euro can in the exhaust, it may not sound great. Maybe that’s why they’re pulling the sound deadening out of it ? Porsche thinks that they can deafen people with tire noise so they won’t hear the wheezing exhaust.

We’ll see I guess.

"The standard sports exhaust system is responsible for an even more emotive soundtrack, thanks to its GTS-specific set-up and the omission of some interior insulation."

OK.
The 992 GTS is officially announced in the USA! 🏁 🇺🇸 👍 🏁 😃
473 HP & 420 Ft-lbs (480 PS & 570 N-M) with big GT3/911Turbo brakes!!
Now, the challenge is to try to find a good waiting list position for an allocation for a custom order 👀 🤔

Scroll down to read about it on this new PCA link...

Yep..or close to it. Ah this will get interesting quickly.....food fights at some premium dealerships maybe! LOL

Good deal if you were going to spec some of the bigger ticket items on an S anyway which I suppose is the GTS value prop

I have a C2S allocation Sept build Nov delivery. Wondering if it's worth waiting for this but the new Canadian luxury tax (Jan 1, 2022) takes some of the value away...
Hmn. nice options but none are earth shattering and given the out the door cost of the GTS likely with dealer ADMs and the current market...man I just think you can option out a 992S and accomplish most of the best on this list IF so desired either aftermarket (tune+exhaust) or just leave them on the table and save some $$ on an S. Without the wide body change like in the 991.1/991.2 I think Porsche shot themselves in the foot sort of. Only way to really tell between the two now is your wallet and maybe interior and some wheels for the most part. The two models move closer too each other aesthetically and in some ways performance wise...both are sub 4 sec cars remember!

Yep...even mildly optioned the US dealers will ADM this to death!

Had the same situation in my 2014 Cayman S vs Cayman GTS...went with the S and then bought the short shifter off Suncoast Porsche and had my dealer install. Easy upgrade. This sounds similar and is probably the only thing I'd want to add to my S from the GTS at this point!

Probably not getting it but what's the appeal of this model? An 30 extra hp is very little over an S which can still hit 60 in around 3 seconds with Chrono. (And a tune could easily overcome that difference) Unless totally stripped down, $138K plus options, is approaching Turbo territory.. so why not just get a Turbo? ..and if you want the hardcore race track feel, reduced insulation, lightweight emphasis, bucket seats, and all, get a GT3?
My thoughts exactly..I got an Akrapovic Ti exhaust at a discount and am happy as heck with how my 992S sounds. Add a tune and probably can top the GTS power/torque wise...if it has larger turbos...that's another add which together still probably would not overcome what we'll see as ADMs on these! Difficult decision indeed if you already have an 992s; base 992 or older 991 then not so much.

AN that will be the new mission impossible if you choose to accept it. Stopped by my dealer today and just mentioned to my SA for the problem solving part of it (no way serious) and even IF they bought my car back at top price (which most are doing) he's like "keep your car...ADM alone the GM is pondering asking is at least $10k deposit on top of MSRP!" Since that means a semester or two of my daughters attention at min and a wait of a year for one....I have a much better (almost certain) chance getting the Taycan CT4 I've been looking at! Or looking at and getting a Turbo! Naw....I'll pass!
