992 Carrera T Club

@Macboy. Thanks for the kind words. So the owners manual says keep it below 4k for the 1st 2000 miles. Probably not nessecary but I did. As far as the oil goes, I've done my best to never let a an oil change go past 5000 miles. Here is a link to a 992 oil change video to a Carerra S with 1500 miles.
Metalic flakes found in the filter after they cut it open. This is apparently normal and I'm sure the filter is doing its job and all is well, but just for my own peace of mind I'm not comfortable with that for 10000 miles. It's just like how BMW says they put "life time" oil in their differentials and automatic transmissions. I change those every 50k, oil every 5k and I've had good luck. Just don't want to switch up what's worked for me with the nicest car I've ever owned, which is of course the Carerra T.

Thanks for posting.
Shock & horror, metallic flakes… but we were told that the engine is pre run in the factory
Oh well, just maybe the Owners Handbook is right and we should run-in the motor, to take little flakes off the surfaces at low RPM, rather than gouges at high RPM.

@Macboy. Where in the owners manual does it say keep it below 4k RPM for the 1st 2000 miles, which chapter?
I thought it was the first 1000 miles?
I still haven’t hit the 1000 mile mark, but should do so on a long run this weekend.
Then finally I can get rid of that bloody piece of cardboard hanging off the back saying ‘RUNNING IN PLEASE PASS’

PS. I am convinced that I found this info in the Get to know (Porsche app), but when I try to access it it refers me to My Porsche app.
Luckily I took this screenshot few weeks ago.

There was a bunch of talk about first oil changes. Here's a good video, including zoom interviews with Corvette engineers who talk about silicone in trust first oil change, which all cars will have from the manufacturing process. Do a used oil analysis and you'll see for yourself. My Cayman had it. Normal. But made me feel good about changing the oil after break in. And hey, there's absolutely no downside to changing oil early, side from money.

GT3 Side Skirt pics
Sorry a bit late posting these!
Got her out for a bit of a wash this morning ahead of tonight’s event at Porsche Hull!
Here are a few more pics to highlight the GT3 side skirts and dimensions etc for those thinking of having them fitted. I love the colour and finish which matches much of the other trim such as on the rear bumper.
Apologies FAL was left in the up position for wash and because it knew I was at one of the saved locations! At least the handles and mirrors were correct!!

This car does not show up in the dealer’s inventory, so it may already be sold. But it’s a nicely presented video that shows of a lot of the cost options. Also, I seem to remember someone here was looking for racing yellow with high gloss black wheels, so here is an example.

Door Handles: howare you all handling the the door handle unlocking situation? I have had the automatic extension of the door handles switched off for my first 1,000 miles but my door handles rarely unlock when I touch under the the handle. Very often I have to push the button on the key fob. Anyone else having trouble with unlocking their car?

The gloss black looks gorgeous but IMHO it clashes with the grey mirror caps and the grey accents….if I’d go the gloss black route I’d remove the side door decals and rear 911 badge, I’d also have the mirror caps painted gloss black.
