My guess is that they are building and selling all the 911’s they can at the moment and the “T” may be pushed back until sales drop off.
Yes some manufacturers are pushing back their cars 6-12 mos due to COVID19 and overall global economies in some places. Who knows if Porsche will also do so...they have curtailled allocations/production it seems. Anyway check MY19, MY20, and MY21 sales data to check?

The 992 is hot and supply continues to be limited into the second model year. It won’t be long before RennLister’s start talking about 2022 allocations. With all of this demand, I don’t see a manual transmission coming to the Base engine anytime soon, because the market has shown that people will pay the S premium for a manual in the US. Of course, that’s not even considering the emissions considerations around limiting the number of manual transmission P cars produced.

With everything the OP has put on their option list and their desire for regular handles, the answer is a C2S.
Door handles easy change I guess but my wonder is what do you do with the PCM? I mean the dash is SO integrated to the function of the car so I think that stays...no back plate/blank piece here. If you get into the functionality of the electronics like sport exhaust yes it can be mapped to the toggle (I have that on my MY21) but the rest is SO embedded into the car it seems. So can see the handles and lightweight glass maybe and set of seats, maybe a few lighter aluminum parts or panels but how do you just ditch the new PCM especially given the TFT screens?

t I think the 992 Carrera T won't show until the 992.2 is introduced and that's usually a year what 3-4 into the run so I think you'll not see it on the order plate until 2023 at earliest. See them pushing out the GTS next as a 2022 car and capture more funds especially given currently constrained reply for 992 allocations/production still right now.

I heard it was not a big seller so Porsche probably isn't falling over themselves to make a new one.
Carrera T take rate was what? Less than the GTS and S cars for sure at least that is my impression so some merit here....may get pushed back a bit especially given current allocation issues...if folks want less car I mean there is the base still.

I agree November maybe to show a demo or early model but not a Nov announcement and release. Still think you'll see GTS first (already testing that one in late stages right?) and then a 992.2T once they push into the next mid year/life upgrade model. May even see some form of hybrid addition first although think that may be not till the NEXT car [99? are they gonna call it?]

I've been thinking the same thing ever since the new 4.0 engine was announced, it makes sense from a business case, Porsche would sell thousands off 992 Carrera T 4.0

It’s an amazing concept, but if we look to the 718 line up for guidance:

GT4 / GTS = NA
Base / S / T = Turbo

So if Porsche follows their own playbook, more likely the 4.0 NA would be seen in the new 992 GTS rather than the 992 T.

That'd be a cheap GT3 wanna be.

But at the expense of their other non-GT models, so I think highly unlikely (although I can dream!)

Or a modern NA carrera - who cares. It would be a cool car.

I'm not so sure. I would anticipate less power than the S for similar or more money. Many buyers would still buy the car with more power, and a quicker 0-60.

I don't see either happening.

If they make a Carrera T with NA engine and MT, I'd be running to my dealership with cheque in hand, lol! I've been looking at used 991.1 with manual and can't find what I'm looking for. There is a used one here at a non-Porsche dealership, but not specced very well and quite highly priced.

That's called the 992 GT3 Touring.

Bank account a wee bit short. In BC, Canada we have a ridiculous "luxury" car tax of 25% (5% GST + 20% PST) on cars over $150,000!!! Plus I want the back seats for my infant daughter

Overview

August Achleitner (chief engineer for the 911) has already intimated that it would return, as mentioned in many publications: Interview - R&T. I did some brief research, using the 2018 Carrera T as my estimate for the new pricing and specs. Given the imminent launch of the GT3, and the GTS in late testing, then the most likely timing is that of a 2023 model (i.e. announced in about a year). However, Porsche could surprise us with a late 2021 launch as well (as a 2022 M/Y).

Package
In general, the "Carrera T" adds the following to the base Carrera, along with some special painted surfaces (mirrors), and graphics.

Standard
Manual Transmission
PASM Sport Suspension
Sport Chrono
Sports Exhaust
Shorter Final Drive
Lightweight Glass
Door Pull Straps
Sport-Tex Seat Centers

Optional
Rear Axle Steering
PCCBs
Bucket Seats

Anticipated Pricing

This is a tough estimate to do, as I don't have the 2018 package pricing, so I was unable to estimate the discount. However, the base price of the 911 went from $91,100 to $99,200, so roughly 8.9% increase. The Carrera T in 2018 was $103,150, so a 13.2% increase over base. That gives us two possible ways of computing the new 992 T base price:

Model 1 (8.9% Increase from 911.2 to 992 gen): $112,330
Model 2 (13.2% Increase from base 911 price): $112, 295

These both line up, but again, are just a projection. From a sanity check perspective, the 2021 Carrera S is $115,100, and traditionally the Carrera T is just under the C2S pricing.

Thoughts

I have a manual 991.1 MT C2 at the moment, and this is the model I am waiting for to trade in my 911. The primary reasons for this are the manual transmission in the base, which frees up funds to go towards other options that I prefer. The Carrera T offers exactly the options that I would spec, including the Manual Transmission, Sports Exhaust, PASM, Sport Chrono (which is now tied int to the manual transmission anyway).

Here's a bit of heresy from me, as I do know the "T" is intended to be the lightweight, no-frills version that is more of a "purist" car. I am actually going to spec it out as a year-round daily driver (FL), with some options that would increase weight and cost. However, the savings from doing this to a "T" over an "S" are substantial. Here's my rough option package, in addition to the standard goodies in the "T":
  • Glass Sunroof
  • Leather Seat Centers
  • Premium Package Plus
    • Dynamic Light System Plus
    • BOSE® Surround Sound System
    • Surround View
    • Lane Change Assist (LCA)
    • Ventilated Seats (Front)
    • Power Folding Mirrors
    • Ambient Lighting
    • Storage Package
I would also ask the dealer to swap out the pull straps for regular handles (sacrilege, I know!). This would give me what I believe is the perfect daily driver, usable both on daily commutes as well as errands and longer trips. The MT, Sport Chrono, Sports Exhaust and PASM give me the sportiness that I love about my 991.1, and the glass sunroof lets in more light and gives a sense of airiness to the cabin (again, Florida so tons of sunlight). In addition, the Premium package adds bits and goodies that I find I enjoy in my current 911, such as ventilated seats, PDLS, LCA etc.

Thoughts? How would you spec yours? Are you also waiting for the Carrera T?
isn’t PTV standard?

It’s unavailable on the base Carrera and an option for the Carrera 4.
